Entry #2
Today on June 8, a 7.8 earthquake hit the Philippines near my hometown. The epicenter was somewhere in Malapatan. I was in the bathroom taking a turd when it happened. I guess you could say the earthquake "scared the shit out of me" (please laugh).
From what I've heard and seen, General Santos was the city that was affected the most. A Jollibee restaurant crumbled into the ground, and from what I've heard from rumors two of the crew were killed (do note I said it's a rumor since it's not yet confirmed). SM and KCC had shown very concerning structural damage like walls cracking down. I haven't seen the interior yet but I hope the people inside during the quaking are okay and alive.
Now here in my hometown where I am currently in as of writing this entry, the house that I live in had sustained cracks and other damages. Even the old bathroom on the second floor fell after years of holding up there. I had a lot of things to clean. While I was dealing with the mess, my mother told me to head over to our store so mom and dad can deal with the mess themselves instead while I keep watch of our store.
The good news is our store didn't get much damage, only a few 1000mL bottles of coke broke (which is loss of profit unfortunately), but a few steps away from our store, a part of our local market's balcony fell also. It's an old building anyway so I'm not surprised it happened.
I checked in on my friends and my aunt back in Davao city (the place where I study), they said they're all fine and I hope they really are. The in-school event I participated in that aims to develop and foster leadership and governance abilities were also postponed so that's good news, meaning I don't have to rush back to Davao for the event. I checked in on this girl I've been talking to, and fortunately she's okay along with her family :D.
To my fellow Filipinos affected by the earthquake, I hope you are all okay!
