I follow some travel blogs and newsletters to keep abreast of industry trends because I'm one of those nerds that has more fun planning vacations than taking them. A term I've been coming across more recently (and really for the first time this year) is 'coolcation', which is basically traveling somewhere cold in the middle of summer. Scandinavia, Alaska, and just the Southern Hemisphere in general seem to be becoming more popular destinations when the rest of the world is sweltering. I just don't like how it's being spun as a fun new trend instead of a canary in the coal mine.
