September 2nd 2021 –

Spent the day with Eden, no day care. I’ve finally got her off her Frozen obsession, but now it’s Pocahontas. I mean, it’s not as bad, classic right? Brea’s favourite too. Like mother, like daughter.

We started the day with smiley face pancakes. Blueberry and bananas for the face, Eden loves it. She also dropped orange juice everywhere. Who let her have a normal cup instead of her sippy I’ll never know. It was definitely Speedy. We went to the store to grab some things for Stella’s birthday. Eden wants to throw her a big party. Princess themed. We’ll probably throw her a party, just not Princess themed. It’s crazy how long Stella has been in Eden’s life.

We did get some decorations, big banners and some balloons and stuff. We’re going to try to make a cake too. I ordered one to be safe though. If the house doesn’t burn down while we make it, I can guarantee it’ll still taste like shit.  

September 1st 2021 –

Is it bad to enjoy days without Eden? Like fuck I love her, she’s amazing. She looks so much like her mom, her eyes. She had Brea’s eyes. Sometimes I can’t even look at her. She’s amazing but it’s great since she started day care. I don’t have to rely on people as much and I still get a little bit of a life.

We went to the beach today, it was nice to leave the toys in the truck for once. It was weird though. It’s been years since I really went to the beach. No responsibilities and she looked amazing. I could stare, I probably shouldn’t have stared so much, but damn I could stare as much as I wanted. She looked good. It’s a shame the day ended. I could have stayed there all night. 16 years to go until I can do what I want, stay out late. I’ll probably be too old for these 20 something girls by then.

Death is always on Penn’s mind, mainly due to his work. It’s not a negative for him though, simply a new path. 2.) Do they believe for every darkness there is a lightness? If not, why?

No. There are some dark moments in life that have no escape. There is no light in the death of his ex-wife. 3.) Name one thing about the way their emotions work that they despise.

Despite his career and his ability to hide his life, he falls in love too quickly and with all of him. 4.) Would they ever wish upon a falling star? If so, what would they wish?

Not after the death of his mom. 5.)  Describe how they would spend a stormy, overcast/rainy day.

Penn loves the rain and storms. Whether comforting his daughter from a storm, or using it as a cover in work. “Bad weather” is powerful. 6.) What do they most value in themselves?

His role as a father. 7.) What about nature do they find calming? What about nature do they find disagreeable?

Ocean. Never thought about it. 8.) List three or more people they would call out for during an emergency.

Depends on the emergency. But Stella always first. Annabeth and then Olive Fulton if it’s not work related. 9.) What is their typical response to being given orders?

Fuck you. Unless it’s Eden, obviously. 10.) Describe a thought or dream that would cause them to have a mental meltdown.

Losing Eden like he lost his ex-wife. 11.) Are there any reasons why they would ever think of self-harm? If so, what are they?

He drank himself into a stupor multiple times after leaving the army. Never in any other way. 12.) Describe a physical action that shows complete trust.

For Penn, babysitting Eden. 13.) Describe a verbal way they would express complete trust.

Telling them about his past. 14.) Explain how they portray feelings of hostility or dislike.

Monotone. 15.) What is something that causes them to question themselves?

Females. 16.) On a sleepless night, what would they be found doing?

Working out, or making something in the workshop, or researching a target. Depends on how the mind is working. 17.) Anything about their health they are continuously on edge about? Something they disregard?

The injury sustained during his time overseas. 18.) Name at least two people who can trust them with their life.

Stella Maxwell, Annabeth O’Sullivan and Eden O’Sullivan. 19.) Describe a way that will earn affection (whether platonic or romantic) from them.

Yes. 22.) What are their creative outlets?

Penn Trade – Made a career out of building shit with his hands. 23.) Do they tend to rely on words or actions more?

Actions speak louder than words. 24.) A certain scent that brings about nostalgia? If so, describe a memory the scent brings back.

The smell of the lake, fishing with dad. 25.) Are there any inner demons they can never seem to get rid of? What are they?

Three hours had passed since a hooded figure took refuge atop the grassy knoll. Unless stood on the hillside with the man, no one would have noticed him lying flat on the dirt. Only his head just raised above his body. If the darkening sky wasn’t helping his cover, the randomly sprouted bushes helped to camouflage him. His face was painted, but his eyes were almost blocked by his hood. He had watched a farmer come out of his home, bring in the cattle before nightfall and tend to the rest of his animals before retiring back inside. He was growing tired of waiting, but knew his target’s movements. He didn’t run on a specific schedule, unlike a lot of his targets, the marksman had found to his annoyance. The target was due at this location before morning.

The assassin held his position for longer than he knew and his mind started to wander. The farm reminded him of the old McDonald place back home. Home, being the place where he was from, where he grew up. He hadn’t been back there since his 15th birthday. Some drive by visit where his aunt and his younger sister were conveniently out and missed him. He shook his head slightly, shaking the memory from his head. He hadn’t thought of his old life for the longest time. He wiggled his toes in his shoes, making sure the stillness didn’t travel down to his legs. The marksman needed a quick getaway as soon as the job was done. There were aches travelling along his muscles, he hadn’t laid in the dirt for this long since his stint in the army and even then, this kind of endurance was rare. In the distance two headlights lit up the gravel dirt road to the farm house. On their tail was an entire convoy. Blacked out 4 by 4s.

With a twist on the binoculars to focus his view on the licence plate, the assassin recalled the number from his memory. This was his guy. He kept his eyes trained on the passenger window as the first car drove past the farmhouse and to the locked up barn. He watched the cars pull up outside in a semi-circle. One guy, shorter, not his target, got out of the car and opened the lock. He looked suspicious, his head darting around to check it was clear. No one saw the assassin on the knoll watching. Girls were ushered out of the following wagons and escorted inside, all the while the passenger didn’t leave the vehicle. The hitman couldn’t see what was happening inside, the doors had been closed but lights could be seen flashing various colours through the cracks in the wood.

Finally, as night had fallen and more cars appeared down the driveway, the passenger left the car. He stood, arms open, welcoming his guests to the barn. Within an instant of the car door opening, the hitman had swapped his binoculars for his rifle, he lined up the shot using the long range scope, and waited for the guests to witness. His client had asked that he “send a message” and he intended to. Waiting, patiently for a few more minutes, he saw the opportunity. The target turned to face him. The assassin inhaled sharply. He squeezed the trigger.
