No statements with the slightest respect toward fans as far as I have seen.

We are not an army of worshippers that jumps whenever a creator condescends to issue an order. Our fan activities do not exist at their pleasure. I have no idea what kind of dysfunctional group of people convinces themselves they have this kind of authority over the people whose enthusiasm creates their job. That's exploitation of us. It's not how this works. It's not how it has ever worked.

Veterans, how do you cope with this? It sounds like you block creator accounts? Are there closed MCYT communities where we can enjoy some creations without fear that someone is going to harass us for enjoying their work?

I was really excited about Pantheon SMP, but at this point I don't want to do anything that will generate buzz or income for any of these people.

For the most part, ccs have their boundaries, and the fandom treats them as such: I will not @ you in this type of creation, or bring it up in any space that is very clearly yours to occupy, i.e. their twitch chats, youtube comments, or discord servers, and the unspoken agreement is that if it makes them uncomfortable, they will take the appropriate measures to curate their own internet experience for themselves…like everybody should do. Literally everywhere. Creators who remain on Tumblr and have been here for a long time (Martyn Inthelittlewood, zombiecleo, legundo, etc) all generally understand this policy well. Legs even has a specific dni tag that he's very open about that's meant for people to use when posting things that might be against his boundaries, or even if it's just something they do not want him to see.

The thing that's different here with Pyro, however, is that he does not seem willing to abide by this standard policy. He outright mocked the idea of creating a block tag like Legundo's, because "the problem isn't with seeing it, it's knowing it exists." It's an egregiously controlling overstep, far bypassing any kind of "boundary" and jumping straight into "this is a rule, and if you do not follow it, there will be serious consequences." Not to mention the outright threats he's made and has still yet to clarify, even though allegedly he's said it was intended as a joke, and one of his Twitch mods said that he only meant they'd be banned from his Twitch chat specifically. Still, it's going to create an incredibly unsafe and downright toxic environment in his community going forward.

But I see her in the comments describing the issue at hand as what you're describing here, and that's a totally reasonable thing for creators to expect. I thought that's what creator boundaries WERE until now.

So, it looks like Shelby issued a statement in support of Pyro without looking at what he's actually saying and doing? And so did Legs? I like both of them and held them in respect until now. I'd rather that be the case I guess. But hey, maybe before wading in they should educate themselves. They don't seem to think we have any reason to be upset.

Generally, when a creator makes their boundary list, they typically ask for things outside of those boundaries not be created at all, but with the understanding that they don't have any way to actually stop that from happening, and if they're here on Tumblr, then they kind of have to figure out how to curate their own experiences with it.

Because this is still our space, and the ones who have remained here despite that understand and respect that. While Legundo might have said he doesn't want people creating works that violate his boundaries, I have never seen and could not in a million years imagine him endorsing or encouraging his audience to harass the people who do that anyway.
