I can’t handle some of yall. “why can’t women dress how they please without being sexualized” okay true that’s fair and valid, but the moment that a creator draws an empowered woman wearing revealing clothing and owning her body everyone is up in arms yellin that he’s sexualizing her??? first of all, she’s a grown-ass woman who can dress how she damn pleases so by complaining you’re really invalidating your own argument. she’s not inherently sexual because of her clothing. It’s y’all that are out here sexualizing her. (not to mention that many of you think it’s completely okay to sit there and talk about how hot noodle is and how she’s a goddess but if a male draws her that way then it’s a gross sexualization) But anyway, moving on, “But he’s been sexualizing her since she was young so that’s why it’s a problem” okay that would be fair if it were true but ?????? where?? she was drawn with fully covering clothing when she was young and when she was like14 she had a crop top that showed MAYBE an inch of skin. So unless you guys are out here sexualizing it, that is not inherently sexual (and her dance moves were not especially provocative nor was she drawn with a “figure” per say). So actually I’m literally creeped out if you think that she was sexualized as a minor because that means that y’all were sittin around thinkin that a 14 year old showing an inch of skin is sexual. So anyway fuck off with your “Jamie draws noodle bad :(” bullshit because that is one of the few things he hasnt done wrong. Because yeah Jamie has done some shitty things and there are issues in his artwork both now and in the past (there was obviously the disgusting commision art that just surfaced, but also there are still some racial stereotype things that still linger) but honestely can you guys let the noodle thing fuckin rest. Complain about everything else and I’ll listen and probably agree, because as much as I love Gorillaz and the universe that exists within it, I can admit when there’s a problematic mistake happening. But after evaluating the noodle situation, I just do not see why Jamie is not allowed to draw a woman owning her body and rejecting objectification.
feel free to argue with me or just have a discussion or whatever I’m totally willing to hear multiple perspectives and sides because I, like Jamie, make mistakes and a new (rational) perspective might change my outlook.
