And a 14 year old boy was charged with terrorism for plotting to attack two mosques in Sutton.
I’m just glad these attacks were thwarted but they won’t stop here. But of course our government refuses to admit that this is a problem. Our media are barely covering any of this and it’ll all be forgotten in a week.
A child was arrested for terrorism and children had to be evacuated out of school… that’s the country we live in.

ofc, though, issues like these are absolutely not limited to this one film - environmental damage problems aren't new, as the article points out the extractivism of the western film industry isn't new, celebrities having their accessories hand-picked to be unethical isn't new... this is in no way to defend nolan et al but to also point out that the issues here are widespread and the odyssey, arguably, is not a particularly unique case except perhaps in its high profile. remember the mulan live-action filming in xinjang?

One correction:
The old lady is not in her home. She is at work. She's meant to be what in Italian is called "la portinaia", aka a cross between a doorwoman and cleaner of a residential building. She's in her small "office" space, at the entrance of the building, from where she can survey the coming and goings of the inhabitants. It's a job that has mostly disappeared, but is culturally very clear to us as having the connotation of "potentially gossipy, one-million-percent judgmental woman who sees everything that goes on in the apartment complex, knows everyone and their secrets, and has Strong Opinions™️".
In this case, thankfully, the Strong Opinion™️ is that those two men are ridiculous with their teeny tiny flag for ants.
