As human beings, we find comfort in other people. However, some people abuse others like a drug addict abuses drugs. They use exclusively to make them feel good and numb the pain, instead of addressing the wound or issue itself. The wounds are still open and neglected; masked like a bandage. Some will say and do anything to get their fix.
Sometimes after going through a plethora of drugs, you find “The One”. This is the one that seems to mask the pain the longest; makes you feel good for the longest and so you use and keep it around the longest. Your wounds are still wide open and unattended. You don’t even care. You feel good in the moment.
The thing about drugs in forms of humans is that if you use them as drugs, they will never ever be anything more. You will become an addict and only keep it near for when the pain becomes too much, never becoming emotionally attached. Like most pharmaceuticals, the body becomes immune to it and soon it has no effect on you anymore—it’s useless to you now. When that happens, you pursue yet another drug to help mask your hurt.
The bad thing about all of this is that those “drugs” are human beings, with feelings and emotions and hearts that can break and minds that will twist. You will never learn to love another human wholeheartedly if you are always using them as drugs. Your wounds will never heal and you will always be in pain searching for relief.
