I feel like he doesn't look like an Eddard or a Ned. I can't stop the idea that he SHOULD be a hermit called Ilya who braved a Russian blizzard to ask if his neighbors had any beets to spare. He ran out of them after he stress-cooked Botvinya the other day but now he's really craving Borscht. The lone wolf in the quote is actually the one that he had to fight halfway through his sub-zero death hike...Does this count as maladaptive daydreaming?
