I do like a lot of these Parallels between Gaston and the Beast, and in a way how they show who the true monster of the story is. I don’t have the complete thoughts together so I hope this rapid fire works…

Something about paying close attention to their eyes. They’re a very intense blue, but for the beast that ice eventually melts into something softer, sadder, valuable.

The way they move is similar! The beast sort of has to move the way he does, half lumbering and sometimes on all fours. Gaston lumbers but to show off his ability, his physique. There was no earthly reason for this man to hop rooftops in the village— but he can so he does.

Their tempers, honestly I could end just at that however there’s a key difference there from the very first moment we meet the beast. Even as he roars and he throws things and rages— he knew better, he wanted to be better but had no control of it. There was a deep layer of guilt and regret, knowing he’s wrong and what it has lost him— not just from a curse standpoint! Gaston never falters - whatever he says whatever he does he means it and means it proudly. His arrogance runs so deep it overpowers any conscious he could contain. The Beast displays the want for change, even at his most stubborn and angry.

There’s something there too In the offers Belle is made, while a prisoner the Beast gives her a better room, attempts to actually listen to her even if he just rages again. He is taken in by the goodness in her heart, how unselfish she is to trade her life for her fathers— clearly not knowing many like that, or knowing he wouldn’t have done the same. Gaston knows this goodness and seeks to exploit it to get the status of a beauty for a wife/mother to his children. It gets in his way instead of stirring a change in him.

The prompts are meant to expand your ideas to new things you haven’t tackled before, not limit them to strict topics. That being said, you can of course also create works that are about the literal things in the prompts. Whatever inspires you! And if you’re stuck, there are plenty of free ideas at #inspiration.

1. oddly specific thing that brings me joy: what I call "trivia night" which is going through a bunch of songs by various decades and seeing how many I can identify by the first few seconds. sometimes I do genres too

2. phone wallpaper: i'm doing this on desktop and don't feel like uploading screenshots just know that my lockscreen is trafalgar law and my homescreen is roronoa zoro (portgas d ace and choso are my two pretty boy widgets)

3. are you a morning or night person?: i love getting up early and being productive on days i dont have to work lmao but my body is naturally a night owl

4. favorite scent: anything clean/fresh, lavender, beach, and fresh balsam because I am that annoying christmas friend

5. origin of your username: way back in the day i used to go by various "simply(blank)" and on all other social media I have kodos (simpsons reference) so while I'll always love star wars, it didn't feel right to have lukeslywalkers any more and went back to my roots.

6. song on repeat: i do this thing where I rediscover Zeppelin (my favorite band lmao) every other month and get into these like listening loops and right now I'm back to listening to their best album Houses of the Holy (rain song was literally inspired by my favorite solo artist george harrison and jonesy was a GENUIS on No Quarter). also America Has A Problem Remix with Kendrick staaaays in my On Repeat playlist

7. i will always order this food: any variation of a turkey club. i love a basic sandwich so much

8. current favorite show/movie/book?: current right now favorite show is Apothecary Diaries and JJK, movie is still GDT Frankenstein but also rewatching classic Disney, book I've been a very bad reader and have only been reading fanfic lmao im sorry the creatures in my phone just know how to write my brainworm characters so well

9. last thing you hyperfixated on: the same thing ive been hyperfixated on since like sept of 2023: One Piece lmao i caught up to the anime in Jan and for the last few weeks it has just been me in my room going "i miss one piece :(" while actively reading the manga, fanfics, watching edits and compilations. i also briefly hyperfixated on the original star wars movies there but thats because i got a new tv and soundbar and what like im NOT gonna watch the greatest movies to test ride it?

1. oddly specific thing that brings me joy: getting the shade i’m looking for just right when i’m painting. i have really specific preferences and i like when it comes together well.

i made my lock screen myself but like. you can probably tell 😭 there’s so much space in the top right corner because my phone didn’t want to fit everything i wanted so i had to compact stuff

and my home screen is a wallpaper from an unknown source but my friend said it reminded her of me before i moved away forever so it’s been there like. 9 months. i’m not going to put it here bc i don’t want to repost anyone’s art but it’s a moon over the tide with various stars around it. and one of them has a music note inside it. it’s very nice.

3. are you a morning or night person?: i do my best work at night!!!

4. favorite scent: i like vanilla and chlorine. not together ofc

5. origin of your username: okay so the fun thing is that i have. No Idea. i’ve had it since 2022 i think? and i was like. 12. and then i changed it for 4 months last year in memoriam before changing it back because i missed it. no idea where it came from though 😭

6. song on repeat: right now it’s been brand new city by mitski!!! orrr way down by adrian lyles!!! and as by stevie wonder!!!

7. i will always order this food: fried rice is one of the foods of all time i know this in my heart. also my local mall has the best picada in the world its ridiculous. it’s chicken, beef, sausage, fries, and fried plantains and they give enough for two people plus a drink of choice and it’s like. 17 dollars.

8. current favorite show/movie/book?: my current favorite shows are one piece live action, interviews with the vampire, and yellowjackets!!! my favorite movies are Sinners, The Long Walk, Lilo and Stitch, and Scream but. s/o to bodies bodies bodies, the truman show, and funny games. and my favorite books are the secret history, the long walk, and the hunger games series!!!

9. last thing you hyperfixated on: Well. this is a long walk blog right now but before that it was a tie between yellowjackets and thg!!!

10. what's your job/occupation, if applicable?: im basically a ticket clerk. its sort of more complicated but. ticket clerk sums it up pretty well

1. oddly specific thing that brings me joy: man, there are so many, since i'm such a weird person :') i love it when i'm able to open an envelope without ripping the flap, and if you don't find this satisfying, i am going to assume you're crazy

2. phone wallpaper: ah....... ahahaha....... i don't have a phone :') so. no phone wallpaper for me

3. are you a morning or night person? definitely a night person! i am so unbelievably slow in the mornings, and i really feel like i'm on the ball at night :D plus, my parents go to sleep earlier than i do, so i feel like i can kind of do whatever i want late at night! :D i'm an incredibly late riser, but i usually stay up pretty late, so.......

4. favorite scent: new books! yes, i know, i'm such a nerd, but. i don't care. the smell of a bookstore is basically the equivalent of heaven to me. i also really like the smell of tar, which sounds really stupid, and honestly, it is :') i don't know why i like it, it's just been something i've enjoyed since i was really little. call me crazy :)

5. origin of your username: ooh, honestly, i'm not sure. i titled a wordpress blog "just being alexis" once, so maybe it came from there? i've just had this, like. attitude of "always being myself" for the past couple of years as well so :D it's quite ironic now, but. beside the point

6. song on repeat: dude no lie, i always get irrationally excited whenever i get asked this question :D my current song on repeat is nothing but you by the vamps!! i love this song so much and i sing it like. all the time. i also tend to listen to peacock by katy perry a lot, so that's another one!!

7. i will always order this food: oof, tough one, since i rarely eat out, if ever. um. i guess if i had the choice, i'd order japanese food, namely either sushi or sashimi! i also really love the warm udon bowls from fukada....... can you tell i'm japanese american lol

8. current favorite show/movie/book?: uh...... i don't watch a lot of tv, but i did finish a short miniseries called looking for alaska, and that was really cute! so that's honestly probably my favorite show..... favorite movie is probably cars? the original one lol, i'm such a sucker for the song life is a highway :') and i've also adored that movie since i was like five, so it's kinda nostalgic for me. favorite book is easy, the long walk by stephen king

9. last thing you hyperfixated on: um? probably the long walk to be honest. i'm not AS hyperfixated on it anymore, so maybe that counts? if not, then probably something baseball-related. getting into that again now :3

2. phone wallpaper: i have one of those moving ones that makes colours when you click/scroll (magic fluid i think its called)

3. are you a morning or night person: it depends on the day but usually a mix of both. which means we get like 3 hours a night most of the time...

4. favourite scent: vanilla, freshly baked stuff, my cat, and this colour. to us it smells like strawberry cake (synaesthesia).

5. origin of your username: its a line from The Long Walk (2025). HIGHLY recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it

7. I will always order this food: depends of where im ordering from but my go-tos are tom yum (rice noodles instead of mushrooms), any type of spicy sushi with fish eggs on it, bolognese with bruschetta as an appetiser, or anything with fries (#american). now I'm hungry however it is nearly 1 am

8. current favourite show/movie/book? ... guess. however if I were to pick smth different probably Us or Donnie Darko (their soundtracks are GOATED). 10. what's your job/occupation, if applicable? full time student, part time babysitter, randomly time (whenever our boss texts us) teen advisory board at the library. we plane events and watch over them and sometimes sell things. a lotta snacks and face painting. and we get free pizza.
