*Leonard has finished his ice cream by now, the sticky bowl haphazardly balanced on top of some pilows. Hes bored, and keeps trying to leave his little sectioned off area to poke around in the medbay. Nurse chapel has had to literally pick him up and put him back a couple of times, and shes visible annoyed at this point.

Hes thrown a few fits because of it and is currently grumbling under his breath with his arms crossed and a pout.*

*however when being given the gifts he forgets his bad mood and immediately lights up. He grin widely, showing off that tooth Gap that will follow him into his adulthood. His eyes are bright and crinkled up in the corners with a genuine joy that certainly hasn't persisted into his adulthood.*

"I love this book!! We've's gots one at school and, and my bes' frien has one too! I've always wanted one but my pop says i ain't need it caus' I can borrow it ever I wants, and... And he says it ain't, you ain't needin' something just because everybody else has it, like jumping off Bridges...

I think thats darn stupid caus I like it! I likes the drawin's! An' my teach likes it too and pop says teachers are smart!"

*Leonard babbles as he traces along the happy cartoonish depictions of torture, pastel organs and glitter blood. It's... Disconnected from reality in a way that is almost more distressing then a realistic depiction of torture in a children's book would be.*

*After flipping through the book for a while Leonard turns his attention to the doll. He seems less excited about it at first but once opening it up and looking inside gets even more excited that he was about the book.*

"wait, wait, I thought I got one of these like this at home but mine's a real person not... not a, a uhh..."

*Leonard pauses as he thinks... Biting his lip as he scowls in thought, absent-mindedly poking at the plushie vulcans face a bit aggressively. Upon remembering the 'right name' he slams his fist down on its face grinning.*

"VULTURES!!!"

"Thats what theys called! This is so cool!!! They aint proper people and so... So uh they've's got the wrong inside bits! This is so cool, i ain't ever seen onenna these! Look!! Look its gots it heart in the dang wrong place!!! Thas so funny!!"

*Leonard is happily taking the plushie apart and giggling at all the 'wrong' things. He keeps a running commentary as he does.*

(The heroes are all sitting in a vacant classroom, their nerves worn down to the very last thread by the villains’ antics. The last few meetings had been…less than ideal and the evildoers were keen on taking every possible moment to harass and insult them. Thankfully, they had all stepped out for a moment to look for something to eat.)

Fairy GodBro: (Heavy Sigh) Ya’ll, I don’t know how much more of this I can take. I’m this close to punching one of them, whoever’s closest to me, in the face!

Simon Pan: I know what ye mean, lad! I’m at me wits end with these jackarses too!

(Other heroes pipe up to voice their grievances with the villains and what annoying assholes they are)

Jeanzco: I’m just glad they all decided they were hungry so we can get a moment’s peace!

(The other heroes murmur in agreement, but everyone can still feel tension in the air. It seems like someone could snap at any moment, all of them are so wired up. Suddenly, Robette has an idea to ease the tension, pulling out their phone.)

(The opening riffs of ‘Stand Out’ play and all the other heroes slowly grin.)

**Ten Minutes Later**

(The villains are walking down the hallway, having raided the kitchen (leaving it a complete disaster, of course.)

Alix Khan: (Munching on a turkey leg) Man, this place may be full of nauseating goody-two-shoes, but they’ve got good food! We can’t get half of this shit in that damned reform school!

Madam Sabrina: (Sipping a cold lemonade) Did you see their version of Candace in the halls? I almost puked! I HATE mice. (Under her breath) She does have decent style though…

Maxdrome: Gerard admittedly probably WOULD think it’s pretty cool that he’s a robot in this universe…I’ll have to send him pictures.

(Suddenly, they all stop as they hear loud music blasting through the closed door of the classroom they remembered leaving the heroes in)

Mari De Vil: What the devil is that racket?

(They walk up to the windows lining the upper wall and peek inside…and see pure joyful chaos inside. All of the heroes up and out of their seats dancing, many of them singing along to the music blasting from a Bluetooth speaker.)

AriOndine: (Spinning around on one of the desks) 🎶If you’re ever lonely~, STOP! You don’t have to be! (She suddenly stumbles…only to share a laugh with her demigod boyfriend as he caught her in his arms.)

Snow Mylène: (Laughing as QuasiIvan spins her around): 🎶After all it’s only, a beat away from you to me~!

Sleeping Nath and MarcElsa: (Spinning around with their hands clasped together) 🎶Take a look in-side and see~!

Robette: (Leaps up onto a table and belts out the chorus, pulling classic Power Line moves) 🎶If we listen to each other’s heart! We’ll find we’re never too far apart!

CinderZoé: (Jumps up beside her) 🎶And may~be love is the reason why~!

Heroes: 🎶For the first time ever, we’re seeing it eye to eye!

(The villains watch in a mix of disgust and curiosity, as their counterparts seemingly have so much fun in such a childish endeavor as an impromptu 90’s dance party. Suddenly, TiAlya spots them.)

TiAlya: Oh, you’re back. Sorry, we were just havin’ a little jam session in here. Gettin’ some stress out. Y’all should try it sometime.

(The villains merely huff and return to their seats…not wanting to admit that it actually did look fun.)

"ay boss-"

[they see toddler!bones]

"uh oh, dats no good"

*Leonard at this point has fashioned a blanket fort out of all the blankets and even so pillows lady Enterprise has given him. Or it might be accurate to say he's tried and made something more like a lopsided blanket nest.

He has gotten his mint chocolate chip ice cream and is eating it happily, if a bit messily, staining the hastily adjusted uniform that just barely fits him. It's a bit difficult using the spoon considering the sleeves are too big and keep flopping over his hands.

It's also difficult because he just won't stop talking as he eats, and nurse chapel who did think he was cute, is starting to get a bit annoyed.*

*it takes a little while for Leonard to calm down, he throws a temper tantrum for about 15 minutes. Between Christine and Lady Enterprise they eventually do manage to stop the crying.

They sensibly move him out of the operating room into one of the examination rooms that lady Enterprise has brought some blankets to through the Jeffrey's tubes. They sit him down wrapped up in one on a biobed.

He starts to look around the room, curiously. As a kid his two blue eyes are wide, bright and sharp unlike the single perpetually squinted, jaded even sharper eye he bears as an adult.*

"I mean, yeah prob'ly. He spends'a lotta time at workin', caus he awful import'nt like. He a doctor, and-and he helps and saves all sorta folk! And ima be a doctor too when ima grown up!

This place kinda looks like my pops practice, b' more fancier like. Practice is what doctors call the doctors office ya know. Becaus practice ain't always mean gettin better at somethin', it uh... It... Its also a doctor's office!

*Christine fetches him that glass of water handing it to him any eagerly takes several golf drinking about half of it at once. Then he starts to kick his feet off the side of the biobed, and goes back to talking.*

"Hav'y'alls gots mint cho-co-late chip icecreams? Thems my favorites. Did you- did you know its the most populars flavor'a ice cream in the empire! Caus its the bestest one, thas why.

My pop, he likes butt'r pecan more but it ain't taste like nothin, i don' think."

it happens in the middle of a surgery, right after the first few incisions were made. Dr McCoy is all done up in sterile surgical scrubs, and nurse chapel is done up to match.

the ship pitches slightly to the side as an errant energy wave from deep space hits the ISS. Bones curses loudly as it causes his hand to slip slightly, but luckily he doesn't nik anything important.

he expected there to be more tossing and turning as it wouldn't be the first time the Enterprise got into a firefight in the middle of a surgery, but it seems to just be the one. So he continues.

he's laser focused on his work as he often is then his eye starts to itch, or rather his lack thereof. And then it starts to burn, and hurt.

he drops the scalpel in his hand to clutch at it and shouts, then screams. The pain is terrible and it's compounding by the second, reaching the point of pain it was when he first lost it.

and then the unthinkable.

he hasn't lost it its back, the return of the depth perception almost as starkly off putting as its loss. As soon as it's back his memory of losing it starts to fade, but thats not something he realizes at the moment. It's not something he's going to realize at all, as the changes don't stop there.

with every passing second the reversal seems to double, that is until he reaches the age of about 17 and the inverse occurs. Its slows down at the same rate it's sped up. Aging and scars wiped away along with the memory is associated with them, until it finally slows to a stop.

Doctor "bones" McCoy is gone now, and in his sted is what appears to be a roughly 5 year old boy called Len. The clothing he had been wearing swamps him, one of his gloves has falling off, the surgical cap slipping comically low over his face.

the kid blinks up against the bright surgical spotlight in the room, with the familiar shockingly blue eyes. Hes obviously confused, but it's so confusing that fear, or really any other emotion hasn't said in yet. The kids just blankly staring around.

And Christine is staring right back, her shock mirroring the one on his face, but there's horror in hers as well.

*McCoy grumbles and sighs under his breath, but there's no venom in it. He shuts the door behind himself, always wary of showing weakness despite the intership changes.

It's because of those internship changes that Cat is even able to be hanging out in his office like this. Pets aren't exactly common on board; there's a grand total of one other on the ISS, as they are still a drain on resources. But no longer under empire control they arent outright banned either, and Jim's actually pretty fond of the little guy.*

*bones stretches, his back cracking painfully, and then crosses the room to skuff the kitten. But before he does he takes off his gloves, not wanting to ever correlate them with his little Cat.*

"quit pokein your nose where it dont belong..! Aint you heard about what curiosity does to cats?"

*despite his somewhat harsh words mccoys hands are gentle. He shifts the kitten so hes cradling it instead of skruffing it. He give Cat a few scratches on the head. A very small, very bittersweet smile creeps up on his scarred face.*

"i dont need no damn charity..!"

*bones scoffs and grumbles at the ensign, but takes the offered mug anyways as he stalks into his office.*
