Yesterday, November 1, 2020, Typhoon Rolly (international name Goni) hit the central part of Luzon, Philippines.

Like the tweet said, it is the most powerful tropical cyclone to hit landfall in recorded history. 

The typhoon has now passed, but the aftermath is bad. Houses destroyed, farmlands flooded, and many, many evacuees. If you would like to see what’s going on, check the hashtag #RollyPH on Twitter, there’s a lot, which brings me to the most important point

This is just the tip of the iceberg, a lot of people in my country are trying their absolute best to chip in and help those affected, but help from outside would definitely be something that could go a long way.

1) We will not know definitively who wins tomorrow night. That is fine and how it has always worked, and with so much early voting this year that's to be even more expected. Trump gets to be President until next January regardless of what happens, there's time to get it right.

2) Regardless of the above point, Trump will try to declare victory tomorrow night. He is not stupid; he knows that this won't be legitimate. He's trying to whip up his base and inspire violence and prime them to dispute any election outcome where he doesn't actually win. That is not fine, but it is to be expected. He can smell his death and he's doing everything he can to avoid it. He's building a literal wall around the White House, for Chrissake. This is not the action of a confident man.

3) You will feel helpless when he does this, and angry, and these are okay feelings. Rest assured that there are huge, well-funded, well-organized, and very motivated institutions specifically dedicated to making sure he won't get away with it.

4) That all having been said, Trump can still win. It's not impossible at this point. So if you haven't voted yet, it won't be a meaningless gesture. (I mean, if you're in a swing state.) Five Thirty Eight puts Biden at like a ninety percent chance right now. Again I say: how many times have you rolled a 1 or 2 on a d20?

And we never knew.

Be nice and kind to everyone, not only in the various social media platforms, but also in the real life. Because we really don't know what is going in their lives.
