I'm a flight attendant now! Well, I have been since September, that's why I've been mostly awol on tumblr. It's been a heck of a ride. One the hardest things I've done in my life, and also equally rewarding. Flight attendants are good at making shit look awesome. Check out an airline employee's instagram/twitter/Facebook and you'll find mostly pics of enviable destinations, local foods, crewmembers hanging out, and airplane selfies. But the truth is this job is mostly very unglamorous. We love showing off the perks, but this lifestyle is hard and often takes a toll, especially in the first year. There's lots of dues to be paid and being on reserve (I.e on call) will kill both your personal life and your bank account. Now eight months into my career, I'm happy and hopefull that the worst is behind me. I survived the first six months and that is an achievement. So this one's for all of us lowly new hires hanging in there, going with the flow and making it work.

Sometimes actual death happens, and words seem so irrelevant. Memories are a wonderful thing, even if they revolve around someone's coffee drink of choice (an iced soy latte in this case). Rest peacefully, brother.
