Best Places to Visit in India in September
I wanted to plan an international trip from Delhi this September without spending too much. So, instead of trusting the “starting from” prices I usually see on travel websites, I spent time checking different flight dates and comparing fares.
I found seven countries where round-trip flights from Delhi can be booked for under ₹25,000 on some September dates. A few options were much cheaper than I expected.
Why I Think September Is a Good Time to Travel
For me, September is a great month for a budget international trip. The summer holiday rush is over, while the October-December travel season has not started yet. Because of this, flight prices can be lower on many routes.
I also noticed that being flexible with dates makes a big difference. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday flights were often cheaper than weekend flights.
1. Nepal: From ₹6,500
Nepal was the cheapest option I found from Delhi. I saw return fares starting at around ₹6,500–₹7,000, while many other September dates were available between ₹9,000 and ₹15,000.
Indian travellers can visit Nepal without a visa, and Kathmandu is less than two hours away by flight. September is also a nice time to enjoy clearer mountain views after the monsoon.
2. Sri Lanka: From ₹11,800
Sri Lanka is another option I would consider for a budget trip. I found round-trip fares starting at around ₹11,800, although ₹18,000–₹24,500 is a more realistic range for many dates.
Colombo is only a few hours from Delhi, and September is a good time to explore places like Galle, Bentota and Colombo.
3. Thailand: From ₹17,000
Thailand is always on my list when I think about affordable international holidays. Delhi to Bangkok can cost around ₹17,000–₹20,000 for a return ticket on some September dates.
I would spend my time exploring Bangkok's temples, markets, and food streets, while keeping a little flexibility for the September rain.
4. Vietnam: From ₹12,000
Vietnam was probably the destination that surprised me the most. I found return fares from Delhi starting around ₹12,000, with many options under ₹18,000.
Hanoi would be my choice for food, culture, and old streets. You do need an e-Visa, so I would check the latest rules before booking.
5. Malaysia: Around ₹20,000–₹25,000
Malaysia is close to my ₹25,000 limit, but I found some good fares when checking different dates. Kuala Lumpur is a good option if I want a short city break with food, shopping, and sightseeing.
6. Bali: From ₹19,000
Bali can also fit into a ₹25,000 flight budget if I book early. September is a good month for Bali because it falls in the dry season. I would choose between Ubud, beaches, and Nusa Penida depending on how many days I had.
7. Maldives: From ₹18,000
The Maldives sounds expensive, but the flight itself doesn't always have to be. I found Delhi-Malé return fares around ₹18,000–₹24,000. I would stay on a local island instead of an expensive resort to keep the overall trip affordable.
My Tips for Finding Cheap Flights
From my searches, I would book around 5–8 weeks before the trip, check weekday flights, and set fare alerts. I also compare different airlines instead of immediately booking the first return ticket I see.
For me, Nepal and Vietnam are the best choices if saving money is the priority, while Thailand, Bali, and the Maldives are better if I want a bigger holiday experience without spending too much on flights.
Just remember that these fares can change quickly, so I would always check the latest flight price, baggage charges, and visa rules before booking.
