You’re the forgotten one. It doesn’t matter where you go, but you’re the forgotten one. You don’t mean to be, it’s not something you enjoy - it makes you feel alienated and makes you sink further, further than you’d ever like to admit to another living human being. You haven’t quite found the select few that would die for you - and if you have, you haven’t realized it yet, have you? You have your doubts - and that’s okay, really, it’s hard to trust when you’re always being left behind. You’re not lesser for it. Regardless of whether you’re left behind physically, emotionally, or academically, it’s okay. It’s okay to take more time than you need and it’s okay to be slower than others, because that’s how you’re wired and you need to be told that that’s okay. It’s in our nature to be different, to be individual - that’s what makes us special, no? Not a single perfect replica in the world - and you need to own that. It’s easier said than done, but there’s never going to be another you and you need to accept that to get your life in order, to do what you want to do. Take a look at your priorities, at your life, see what’s making you miserable. It’ll be glaringly obvious when you do. And, perhaps, give yourself an apology.

You’ve always been in the shadow of someone else and it’s something you know you’ll never be able to escape. You feel like you’ll never manage to live up to the person you’re supposed to be and nothing you do is going to be good enough - it’s just good enough to scrape by. The harder you try, the harder you fall, and you’ve fallen from the pantheon, darling. You’re lost in knowing where to go when you aren’t trying to be better than something, prove that you’re worth it; it’s become an obsession much in the same way bracelets become. Pieces you wear like armor in public to hide how you’re adrift in a world that didn’t wait for you.

Do you know why you like being the center of attention? Do you know why there’s always something people are drawn to, why it’s always the same thing and why you always get taken advantage of? Do you know why you always say “I’m fine,” when someone asks if you’re okay? Tell you what, darling, take a look at Saturn’s rings and ask why they’re found more beautiful than Jupiter, when they’re just rocks and ice. Are you just rocks and ice? Or do you want to be more than that? Don’t you want to be somebody with a voice, someone more than just a passing face in the crowd? You don’t know what your dreams are and you don’t know how to deal with criticism, but somehow, sometime, you’ll figure it out. For your sake, I hope you do. I know you do. And don’t suffocate on your way there - you’re in real danger of sinking if you don’t keep going. And you don’t want to sink again, do you? It's hard to pick up the pieces. You're stronger than that.
