A very interesting article on the function of the queer zine scene today compared to the 90s. Food for thought.
RU Down 4 The Game! No I Up 4 The Ride! Matt Furie, 2007
So, Matt Furie, cartoonist and creator of Pepe the Frog, was asked by his cab driver friend to ride along with him for an art project. So, basically, Matt drew a bunch of drawings – some crude, some not, and put empty word bubbles above their heads so random people who ride the cab would fill them in. Then he shows what they wrote and on the other side, he tells how it happened… “couple of dudes from boston…” ya get the idea. So they are pretty funny sometimes, depending on the picture and the random person.
A wonderful fantastic footrace, a compilation... coming soon whenever i finish it

Hi Hi Hi.
It’s time for the next chapter of this story and for me to introduce the zine that inspired my return to ZINE culture.
Created by an artist from Hamburg, this zine is called French Fries and Bananas. Its illustrations were drawn during the artist’s travels across Thailand. On each page, there’s a unique glimpse of the artist’s perspective on this journey, shown through small sketches.
This zine caught me with its format — I’ve always loved miniature things. Then the shrimp on the cover won me over, and I realized I couldn’t leave it behind. It’s special to me because it’s the first one and because it connects us through a shared story. The illustrations on every page are a pure delight: drawn in neon pencil on yellow paper, they look almost edible.
A huge thank you to Eva Planet from Hamburg for rekindling my curiosity about zines. (If you’d like to check out the artist’s work, you can find it on their website by searching for the nickname “Eva Planet”.)
I’d also love to hear your own stories. How did you discover zine culture? What does it mean to you? Feel free to leave a comment, send a DM, or drop something in the ask box — they’re all open.

"I recently unearthed a photo of this first “office,” circa 1997. With bleach-blonde hair I sit surrounded by my analog universe of cassette tapes, a mug full of pens and glue sticks, stacks of books, a tape gun, outgoing mail, and a box full of received letters. Printed photographs are tacked to the cork board. My turntable is out of the shot, but a few records from my collection are visible in the bottom left-hand corner. These were my tools."
