what if they get back to erid only for grace to discover that rocky has like. a crazy rap sheet. extensive eridian criminal record. he's stolen everything it's possible to steal. there was a huge brouhaha when he got elected to the petrova line mission because it's basically like if danny ocean had been really really good at fixing shit and so they decided to send him to the moon. he's been arrested approximately 12,000 times for public indecency. grace is like (still not over the clothes thing) so i'm NOT the only guy you like to be fully naked around. i see how it is. and rocky has to reform his image and only do his nudist thing around grace to save his bug marriage. the fact that he came back from space married to a bug is somehow entirely unsurprising to the entire planet, who mostly assumed he'd stolen the blip-A and made off with it and that was why no one came back for 50 years. grand theft spaceship. grace visiting rocky's cave like wow cool jewel artwork or whatever and rocky's like yes yes. if anyone asks you've never seen it.

right so reportedly we got the karaoke scene in the movie because ryan gosling overheard sandra hüller singing to herself in some downtime on set and approached the directors to say "if we have her here and don't ask her to sing in the movie then we're insane," so the scene was hastily planned and recorded during the last day they had with that set; stratt grew up singing in an east german youth choir because hüller did, too. a fun meta textual wrinkle this adds is that gosling is also a singer but grace doesn't take a turn with the mic, so you can read the scene not just as stratt saying "I am a full human being, I just can't be for this project, you get to see it for two minutes before I turn it off again" but additionally "you could be doing this exact same thing but you aren't even willing to give us two minutes." his doomed work friend the trained choral singer, his fated bestie the being who communicates only through song, his world-saving probes named for the most famous musicians ever, his choir-based soundtrack underpinning all his actions, and his unwillingness to sing himself.

me when the character has a uniquely fucked mindset. me when the character's fundamental views of how the world works lead to them being hurt and/or hurting others and not seeing the problem with this. me when the character is a little freak who does weird shit because their beliefs, inspired entirely by their environment, are fuckeddddd
