The Dacians had a close relation to wolves, to the point where the wolf was celebrated almost like a god. I've written more about it on my blog, link below :)
Watching the moon last night from my window. Wish I had better quality.
Tomato juice. We boil it and store it in bottles and use it in the winter for cooking. Or we drink it.
Dad just sent me this video he took. The place is very close to my grandparents' house (about 10 minutes walk). Quality isn't great, but the swans look so beautiful and the babies are really cute.

Rain came yesterday, soon after my "Paparuda" post. Perhaps the god of rain was pleased.
Snapdragons are called "gura leului" in Romanian, meaning "lion's mouth".

Paparuda - a dancing ritual to the god of rain
I can't remember how old I was when I was first told about Paparuda, but I do know I was very young. Summers in Romania tend to be very dry and that summer my cousin and I covered ourselves in leaves and branches and danced around singing and asking for rain. In the old, the ritual was performed by a young girl or woman, who was naked underneath all the leaves. We, of course, kept our shorts and tshirts on. And, as we danced, grandma throwed water upon us. Did it rain that afterwards? Sadly, I can't remember...
To this day I can't see, hear or smell the rain without singing the Paparuda song to myself. You can find below the traditional song and a more modern rendition. The lyrics are in Romanian, but let me know if you guys would like a translation.

Dew, the mysterious morning water that has to power to soak boots and nourish the land. It may be an overlooked type of water, but it has a long history of being used in Folk healing, Magic, and Witchcraft.
At work this morning I came across a patch of dew soaked grass and I remembered this article I read about how to collect dew! It’s traditionally used in glamours and other than that I’ve not looked into it. Either way, here you go, this is an interesting article and i will be looking for a dew collecting handkerchief or rag in the coming months ^_^Â
Grandma prepared some garlic sauce and we're going to roast some red peppers. Simple food is always best.
We are going to eat lunch outside, on a nice concrete table my grandfather built some 50+ years ago.

Baked veggies soup. So much better then regular vegetable cream soup.
Just take any vegetable you have in your fridge (onions, garlic, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, zucchini, carrots, celery, etc), cut them in large pieces, add salt, spices, oil, whatever, mix well with your hands, place them in a tray and bake in the oven for as long as you like it (I prefer mine to be well done).
Then take them out, place them in a pot, add some water and bring to a boil. Add milk or butter or cream and season if needed.
Blend everything together. Yum!

We burned some corn cobs to heat the oven. They make great embers. Home made bread tastes better when cooked like this instead of using a gas/electric oven.
Weaving onion strings. We had a lot of onions and they needed to be properly stored (a few days ago I posted a picture of part of our onion harvest).
