I love to imagine that eridians are ambush predators, while humans are pursuit predators. Eridians can’t run as fast, or as far as humans.

One day, Rocky decides to sneak up on Grace. He’s walking so quiet that other eridians wouldn’t even be able to sense his footsteps (they’d obviously still know he’s there because of the echolocation, but it’s like a part trick)

He makes sure to hide behind walls, so Grace has absolutely no idea he’s there, right?

Grace is in the middle of cooking himself a me-burger, while Rocky is watching him through the wall. Rocky is close enough where he’s still fully hidden, but has the opportunity to quickly scurry up and scare Grace.

But all of a sudden, his human tenses, and his heart rate speeds up. Rocky gets concerned, but then Grace turns around and stares at him through the wall. WHAT?? Rocky makes a very alarmed sound, and Grace grins before suddenly running towards his hidden location.

Rocky bolts out of the house and down to the beach, and he gets tired after a few minutes, but oh my god grace is still running at full speed after him. Rocky has never ran quicker in his entire life, but Grace reaches him in seconds and tackles him onto the sand, cackling so hard he cries at the genuine screech of terror that Rocky made.

What if human astronauts visit Erid one day and are doing diplomatic things and whatnot and they learn Ryland Grace is sstill alive and is in a terrarium. One of the astronauts jokingly says “you’re not experimenting on him are you” and the Eridians freeze cause yeah, they totally are. They experiment on him all the time. They’re experimenting on him right now in fact. They read about deep sea diving and are now testing the effects of replacing certain gases in Graces atmosphere. Right now they’re testing helium.

They send someone to stop the experiment but Grace refuses cause they’re so far in already and well that would just ruin the data.

The new humans think this is hilarious and insist on joining the experiment as Grace excitedly yaps about all the cool stuff he’s learned about aliens but he’s still got that high pitched helium voice.

does anyone ever think about the scene where Grace and Rocky are celebrating and Rocky has that "savior of the universe" hat while Grace just has a regular birthday hat. he's out there casually giving away credit for his role in saving 2 planets in a probably unconscious way in a setting where nobody can even see it. maybe i'm reading too much into it but that guy needs to get put in the Eridian equivalent of therapy asap
