its been a month or two since I've written anything at all. The world feels like it has completely shut down. the weather has lightened up and is getting warmer, it's nice to see more sunshine. IL declared a lockdown this morning so Chicago will shut down completely tomorrow starting 5pm. It feels very unreal. I’m back home and I guess my first year of college is over? That's weird, I always thought I had more time. I really miss the routine but I also enjoy the comfort of being home. I feel disconnected from my artwork. I keep thinking about the checks I haven't cashed and all of the things I left behind in my dorm. I feel like I didn't really bring much. As for my new daily routine, I feel unproductive and directionless. I’ve been trying to tell myself that that's okay, it's not necessary to make every day or month productive. But still, I feel like I need to have something to show for these weeks I’m spending, isolated really, doing nothing. Stores and restaurants have shut down. I can't really hang out with friends in a group. the only people I've seen since I've been home are Bianca and Kendall. I have spent almost every day with Bianca. Basically, this quarantine is what I've been wishing for my whole life. Uninterrupted alone time, food and time with her. And still, I’m disappointed. When I have things to do I feel burdened and I don't want to do them. When I don't have anything to do, I still feel burdened by the emptiness of not having some productive goal to achieve. I want to be able to say “I did it” but there’s nothing to do. I keep thinking of Anne Frank’s diary and how she wrote throughout her version of change and fear. of course, it's not comparable to Nazi Germany and the Holocaust but this is unprecedented. Who knows what’s going to happen next. It feels like it changes by the hour, the day. For peace, I’ve been trying to work out once a day. I haven't been doing so well but I did this morning. I couldn't finish my workout but I hope I will tomorrow. I also have been trying to go outside and not completely isolate myself from the earth. I went on a walk and have been bringing my dish chair to the garage to sit in a sheltered space with fresh air, that is currently very cold.I really want warmth and grass and sunshine today. I hope that comes soon. I’m waiting for all of this to end so we can go back to normal. My anxiety has gotten a lot worse too. I have been showering a lot, obsessively. I feel dirty and wrong and I have this need to be clean constantly. My room, my body, my hair, my face, everything has to be clean and spotless. I made a promise to myself in my head, that I would try to stop- every time I want to shower, I have to have done a workout before it. At least this way my showers will make more sense. There I go again with trying to make my fucking shower productive. I’m so weird, so conditioned to do things in a certain way. I’ve also been thinking about video games. I can’t play them or really understand the appeal because it's so fake. It’s not happening in real life. It’s a sort of escape that I don’t want? I don’t get it. It doesn't change anything in the real world, or in my real mind or body or surroundings. I guess I would rather do things that cause real-world changes. or at least happen in the real world. I feel impatient and upset right now. I don't really know why. I also don't know when I'm going to get my next period it might be that. I messed up my tracker app and don't know when my last one was so it can't predict when this one is. I need consistency so badly. I embroidered today, I think I had fun. I don't know I guess it helped pass the time and I got something tangible in the process. I’m sure this project will be due at some point so I’m just getting a head start. I ran out of the thread and need to go buy more tomorrow. I think I’ll do that in the morning. I so badly want to wake up earlier and just do more throughout my day even though I don't have to. I want to let myself be bored and see what happens. Like a sort of experiment. I'm still trying really hard to be productive and get something tangible out of this quarantine/isolation period. art or a fitter body or literally anything! it's very frustrating. I should just let myself be. My fingers are going numb. I want to read more Sylvia Plath and maybe Virginia Wolfe soon. My identity feels lost. I don't really know who I am or what makes me who I am when the external factors are stripped off. i guess that's all for now maybe i can try to be consistent in writing before school starts.
