"𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬."

Owen was first alive 200 years ago. He was a lumberjack who lived on the outskirts of Oakhurst because he was ill (leprosy) and the towns people thought of him as a monster.

One day he went to visit the mayor of the town, Louis, to talk about building a mill. The mayor was the first person who'd didn't treat him as a monster and even long after the mill had been built he kept coming back to the mayor. Eventually the mayor basically asked him how he would feel if he (owen) were a vampire. Owen replied that he wouldn't mind, particularly if it meant spending eternity with Louis.

Now outside of the story itself Louis is a self insert character for Owen's irl partner, Luanne. Louis in his entirety is a dead wife character who served as a source of anger for Owen to continue. (Also Louis is canonical Trans masc!!!)

Once Louis did turn Owen, Owen slept for 3 (i believe, though i could be wrong) days. I don't remember if there was a canon reason or not but it was likely because his body had a lot of healing to do.

When Owen finally awoke he found that Louis had been tied to a pyre and burned at the stake, killing him. (And as Owen says in episode 3 or 4 "Do you know how long it takes a vampire to burn?") The towns people murdered him because they claimed he had been found guilty of practicing the occult, though Owen later finds they had no proof and they were simply corrupt politicians.

The murder of his beloved sends him into a frenzied state of rage in which he massacres 2,799 people. After no one is left in town (as they all either fled or died) he digs himself a hole where he then "naps" for the next 200 years.

Now through an intro to one of Owen's episodes we get two pieces of vampire lore for the series. The first of which is that vampires cannot sleep, unless it is magic induced (Ex; Scott Goldsmith, the other starting vampire). The second is that vampires acquire the memories of those they drink from, even if they don't want to. This is how Owen finds out that Louis died simply because of petty human desires.

After all this, and allowing it to not only sit but fester, Owen has developed a large hatred for humanity.

Then at the start of the smp Owen pretends to be human until all the vampires are found out and once they are Owen has a confrontation with Doctor Legundo. Legundo essentially proposes to help find a cure and help him. This dynamic later spirals on to become them getting a little closer and then getting divorced (having a HUGE argument) (this repeats several times there were at least 3 divorces)

(There was also later an escape room like adventure map together that only fueled the shipping. They are haters and they beat each other out a lot and then they hate and love make out. They are strange about each other.)

Owen kind of plays nice with the coven (rest of the vampires) until he feels they have all wrong him in which case his only mission becomes to avenge Louis and make everyone feel like outcasts.

Owen kinda just. Lurks half the time and stands on roofs and shit.

Then comes in Avid (the character, as cc!avid has been found ro be a horrible person). Avid started as a "vampire hunter" but once he got turned into a vampire to heal Mysterious Illness he started being a suck up and falling in love with the eldest vampire Scott (who is pretentious and rich and blah blah). This makes Owen livid because not only was this person who was so similar to those who got Louis killed being accepted, he was getting his happy ever after with Scott. Which Owen never got.

So Owen convinces Scott's first fledgling Pyro to help him kill Avid. This makes all the other vampires (namely Scott, Shelby, and Drift) MAD.

So in the finale Owen somewhat avoids the other vampires and goes to have a chat with Legundo.

Now Legundo used to be a soldier in a war and cause the death of thousands of people and feels really guilty, thats why he became a doctor to try and help himself morally. That's why he wants to help Owen and refuses whenever Owen offers to turn him.

So of course Owen turns the doctor before going off with Abolish (a dude who has all the stuff for the cure and works for a vampire society type thing) to get cured. Now when being cured a vampire is given a pop up screen with either the option to be cured or to simply die.

So Owen watches one final sunrise before surrendering himself to death to meet his beloved.
