and then avery. avery who could have been any one of us. avery who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. we all have clean minds to the king. what makes him so special? nothing, really. he just cared enough to follow the path to doom.

idk i just really like how it highlights that avery is just someone in an unfortunate situation he didn't have to be involved in. i like to think it wasn't fate, it wasn't meant to be, it wasn't planned. it could've been you or me in his shoes. anyone could have found the laptop. it just happened to be him.

and that makes their story even more tragic to me- avery can change his fate. he isn't doomed. he can create a happy ending for himself. but he can't do the same for derek. you can have a happy ending but you have to watch someone you love as it becomes increasingly clear that it doesn't work that way for them. they were already as good as dead when you met them.

He's unironically so hopecore... I'll miss you D3rlord3 searching for a world...

if you are non-american then it can be dangerous to hold beliefs about your rights that are only applicable in the US.

i am australian and i have seen young australians have completely us-american perceptions on the rights they hold (or do not hold) in regards to protest, police officers, self-defense, medical care, higher education, debt, and legal proceedings. i am not talking about "boooo americans" i am talking about the genuine danger it might present to have us-centric assumptions in high-stakes situations
