Wisdom, to Accept the Things I Cannot Change

I didn’t realize why I felt so connected to this scene until I read this.

Stopping girl hate doesn’t mean you have to like or get along with every other woman. It just means you don’t tear women down for being women. It means you let go of your internalised misogyny, envy, and jealousy of other women. It means not using gender based insults to undermine other women. It means you don’t push other women under the bus for men. It means you stop holding other women to the arbitrary and restrictive gender roles you’ve been socialised into. 

When I look at this I feel like it should be something from 100 years ago but this is really going on right now

Calvin and Hobbes were Reformation-era philosophers, as was Frances Bacon. I’m better his daughter’s name is actually Frances, but he calls her by the appropriate last name of the philosopher, just as Calvin and Hobbes are last names.

Aye that’s at my school

my entire life changed when my dentist told me that the only time my teeth should be touching is when i’m chewing. every single time my teeth are touching i have to separate them. and i noticed that i clench my teeth a LOT.

when your mouth is closed and your teeth are touching or held tightly together, you are unnecessarily straining muscles out of stress. the healthiest way to hold your jaw is slightly apart, where it is relaxed. THIS HELPS WITH HEADACHES

so randomly the ONLY thing that helps me fall asleep sometimes is this one guided meditation video on YouTube, and i’ve been listening to it pretty regularly for about 2 years, right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY2Vs44-TQg About 10 minutes into it she says gently, “unclench your jaw, as this is a central area for trapped tension,” and I swear, when i first started to do this meditation, every time I got to this line I would be BLOWN AWAY by how tightly my jaw was clenched. I’ve gotten to the point where I find myself repeating, “Unclench your jaw, as this is a central area for trapped tension,” two or three times a day, because I carry so much tension there, and every time I do, like, a random spot-check, my jaw is ALWAYS clenched tightly shut. And now that I know this, I basically am constantly trying to be aware and unclench my jaw, and holy shit, it makes such a difference in my overall stress level. I cannot co-sign this post enough.
