AS OF 13/01/2023, I AM BACK! I’ve been absent from this blog for about two years, so please bare with me as I try to get back into the swing of things. If we have roleplayed in the past, feel free to reach back out to me, even if you moved blogs!

❛ It’s different with us, Yondu. You didn’t particularly want children before you wound up stuck with one. You fell into fatherhood, you didn’t… plan for it for months or grow that life inside of you. I read so many books, I watched all those videos and the other mothers around Beach City. I knew the sacrifice I was making but, I think a part of me still held out hope that it’d be different. That I’d be able to see and hold my baby, that I was wrong about what had to happen. That sort of thing changes you forever, physically and mentally. I just wish I had, had more time with him before he was running off to find himself. ❜

you learned from a young age you are not like others, and others hate you for it. you've been mocked and tormented your whole life, and it birthed a violence in your heart. you yell at your younger siblings when they slip up. you don't want them to suffer the same fate you did. at once, you are both miles above and miles below your peers. you are not polite. people no longer dislike you because of you, but for your biting words. it's better this way, after all. at least now you know it's your own fault.

❛ I don’t want anything from you. ❜ This wasn’t the first time her continued kindness would be question, the receiver fearing some anterior motive. Suhad was certain it wouldn’t be the last either. Albeit, she carries on. ❛ Is it so terrible to be thanked for all you have done for her? It’s not disingenuous, you know. We are allies in this, in parenthood, and it’s not an easy job to have. Some appreciation now and then is nice to hear, that’s all. ❜ Perhaps Maddox set too high of a standard for how delightfully pleasant and amicable this co-parenting situation could be. It seemed like every other father figure brought into the mix was less than inclined to work with the hijabi as he had. All of the, less inclined to get to know her and develop a close friendship over these years. Even through the struggle, she’d move ahead and power through. Merle and Yondu would just take more work, more time was needed to bring down walls.

It was a welcome challenge, being taken on graciously. Her soft smile returns, ❛ So, you don’t want to know anything about me, you don’t want to talk about you and compliments are out of the question. What ever are we going to talk about? ❜ It should be obvious to him, the topic of conversation was to return to the one piece of common ground here: Hannah. ❛ She quite likes it up there, among the stars. She tries to text me, to send photos and updates while away. It’s sweet that she keeps me in the loop but, none of them really send unless you all are close to a satellite. Then it all comes in droves, days worth of updates at a time. ❜ A pause, her attention leaving her own prep and returning to the other once more. Suhad’s trying to make eye contact, to engage him in this conversation. Was it working? ❛ Does that ever happen with you? The opposite I mean, where she sends all of those updates from down here but they only come in when you’re near satellite? ❜

HE KEEPS PEELING. Yondu isn’t used to this kind of appreciation, not from anyone other than his husband. And since he’s still in disbelief that he’s even worthy of being spoken about like that, it’s very hard to believe that anyone complimenting him is actually genuine about it. It’s uncomfortable. He doesn’t know how to respond, so he keeps peeling carrots.

Dead end. Yondu manages to skid to a halt before slamming into the brick wall in front of him, barely regains his stance before his pursuer lands in front of him. The alien turns on his heal, wonky grin on his face, hands up in surrender. His stolen goods are in one hand, wrapped in brown paper. He shifts, as subtly as his can, so his arrow has the room to fly out from beneath his coat.
