There’s Maddie’s utter confusion in 7x04, ending with her saying: “I don't think you're a fraud. I... I just think that maybe you're not sure of your own feelings yet. And if there's something that you need to tell Eddie, you will. Just, in your own time.”

Before this, Buck is talking with Maddie about feeling guilty about lying to Eddie, so to me it comes off more intentional the way she says “something” and “in your own time,” as if she’s hinting about Buck’s own confusion and feelings for Eddie.

And then in 8x07, when Buck is sad about the Tommy breakup and Maddie tells him: “Maybe you should start thinking about what's next, instead of what's past.” They just broke up, so it seems like an odd thing to say to her brother who just got his heart broken, unless she’s got a specific person in mind that she’s trying to get him to see his feelings for *cough* Eddie. And then she says “I think that you have to trust the universe is gonna… bring you a special person.” The way she pauses before “bring” strikes me as if she’s struggling to find the right word without being obvious, because she knows that special person is Eddie. There’s also several knowing glances between her and Chimney in this scene, as if this Buck loving Eddie is definitely something they’ve both clocked and discussed together lmao.
