happy pride to fat dykes specifically
the countermeasure to dehumanisation is not sexualisation. the countermeasure is to treat the other person with respect and dignity actually.
i don't care if you wanna fuck fat people or hairy people or trans people or the elderly or disabled people or whatever. can you treat them like human beings
Evergreen!ππΎ
Race isnβt mentioned in this post, but Iβm sure it applies regardless. Take the screenshot in context to both that and the groups mentioned above.
I'll die on the hill that expecting women to remove hair that men are not expected to remove is misogynistic body policing.
Your body is your own. Body hair and facial hair do not become "unhygienic" or harm anyone, just because they belong to a woman instead of a man.
Every woman who doesn't do the hair removal demanded of her is participating in staking the feminist claim that women's bodies exist for ourselves, not to fulfill the aesthetic preferences of people with power over us.
I'm grateful to every woman I ever knew who showed me that it's possible to just stop removing body hair and (for many women in many situations) it's literally fine. No one in my life even comments on my pit hair or leg hair, except for a kid once in awhile, which gives me the chance to say things like "Most grownups grow hair there! Some grownups remove it, but I don't want to."
I'm also grateful to the transfeminists who taught me to see the gender role enforcement in the demand that women have no facial hair.
Even when the removal of certain hair feels necessary for safety from harassment or abuse, understanding that the stigma against female facial & body hair is misogynistic (and frequently specifically transmisogynistic and racist) can make it easier to identify the structural problem, instead of buying into the propaganda that there's something fundamentally wrong with your body if you grow this hair at all.
You have every right to decide what purely cosmetic work you will spend time, money, and planning on, and what isn't worth doing. Regardless of what you decide, you should have the right to live free of harassment, discrimination, and other forms of body policing. So should everyone else.
If people treat you badly in attempts to enforce this gender role, that's because they're misogynistic, not because you're doing anything wrong.

i need you to understand that when i talk about medical fatphobia (or fatphobia in general) i am especially talking about the fattest person you could ever fucking imagine. yes i am also talking about small fat people and βchubbyβ people. but i am ESPECIALLY talking about people who are so fat they canβt take care of themselves, who canβt walk, who canβt take care of hygiene independently, who do nothing but sit/lie down all day and eat.
you need to get in your head that these fat people are human too, who are deserving of good healthcare. if you only support people who are a little fat or if your support is conditional based on weight and peoples efforts to lose weight or not, itβs not support. itβs eugenics.
THIS POST IS ABOUT FAT PEOPLE AND FAT DISABLED PEOPLE - DO NOT DERAIL.
if youβre a fat person not looking to lose weight, i love you. the weight loss industry is going bonkers right now and iβm proud of you for continuing to take up space. kisses u on the forehead
I'm so fucking proud of every fat person who has truly accepted themselves and is unapologetically dressing the way they want and not nitpicking themselves and truly loving on themselves without stipulations like YOU WONN BIITCCHH
jowls are normal double chin is normal stretch marks are normal armpit fat is normal. none of the things that tiktok and instagram are telling you to change are things you need to even consider changing. you can have a normal body, it will be okay

trying to figure out how to actually eat more healthily & while it's understandable that a lot of the resources from the fat liberation side are focused on getting people to eat enough & accept that dieting doesn't work/weight increase is not the end of the world, i do wish there was more about how the recommendations for things like recommended amounts of sugar, fat, etc, came to be.
obviously none of the sites promoting said recommendations have anything but Tips! To Make Sure You Obey, but the one haes-y resource i found was no longer available on the site or on any archives & the other set of resources/sources was nineteen pages long (hyperbole but damn) and organised by nothing but name of the authors & afaict included a ton of 'how intuitive eating will in fact Make You Thin' & 'let's interview some people about intuitive eating & how it's affected them' rather than info about specifically what people should eat.
like i promise you i am in fact following my intuition and what i want to eat is v few fruits & vegetables & a lot of cake/chocolate/biscuits/etc. (tbc i have been doing this for like 7 years, this is not me skipping the 'testing the limits of permission' stage or eating a lot to make up for recent restriction.)
the main advice i found was either the deeply orthorexic mainstream side where it's like Constantly Police Yourself and 'swaps' that are like 'instead of eating butter with bread, why not put lettuce on dry bread for a tasty treat! :)' or things i already knew such as 'eat more fruit & veg' & 'find ways to move that you enjoy'.
so i am going to try eating half my usual amount of daily dessert chocolate bc my portions are v large and adding an apple and grapes to my lunch while hopefully switching my breakfast biscuits for homemade frozen yoghurt made of lots of frozen fruit once i have finished the current breakfast biscuit supply. & i will figure out how to add fruit/veg to my dinners. & so if i instantly rebel at the reduced amount of chocolate (which tbf was not recommended by the fat liberation side of things, i just feel like. my portions are massive this may be Too Much) then i will at least have Added Fruit.
no such thing as too fat for a crop top

the more educated you get on fat issues the more you realize that almost everything that supposedly justifies fatphobia is actually complete bullshit. most of the health conditions that are treated as almost divine punishment for being fat (like heart issues and diabetes) are being revealed to actually *cause weight gain* instead of being caused *by* it. this goes for social 'consequences' of being fat, too. is that "neckbeard" redditor actually fat because he spends all his time online, or is it that he spends all of his time online because he's not treated like a person if you can see that he's fat, so the internet is his best option? everything is less accessible to fat people. seats on busses, at restaurants, and even at things like amusement parks, are frequently too small to comfortably sit in for a fat person. people treat you worse if you're fat, or even try to avoid you entirely. you get judged for doing leisure activities, or even for exercising at a public gym, (which proves the claims of trying to motivate you to get fit are bullshit btw) getting filmed and laughed at, posted online for your body to be a punchline. if you want to be progressive or body positive you *need* to be examining your beliefs. oppressed people are routinely forced into positions that, from the outside, may justify the narrative about these people. black folk are pushed into poverty, so that crime is often their only means of survival, enforcing the idea that black folk are criminals. queer folk are made unsafe in public so that we use codes to identify each other, enforcing the idea that queer folk are trying to secretly seduce people to be gay. and yes, fat folk are forced indoors and online so that they can enforce the narrative that we are lazy shut-ins.
