Random Rafayel Headcanons!
When he first started living on the surface, he went crazy for foods that can't be found in Lemuria. Things like cheese and crispy foods
Rafayel is the only lemurian that can actually understand fish, the rest only understand them in a pet whisperer type of way
He definitely got into a fight with a grocery store lobster before
He has a weird rivalry with freshwater fish
The first time he came to the surface he fell in love with the warmth, and spent like an hour just lying on a sunny rock. The priests found out because he couldn't hide his sunburn
He loves the warmth but unfortunately overheats quickly. He's one of those people that keep going outside in the summer but have to go back in the a/c after like 5 minutes
He also overheats quickly doing cardio (unless he's underwater)
He has a saltwater pool with a special filter and like aquarium chemicals to mimic the ocean
Over the course of his long life he's worked a lot of odd jobs that you wouldn't expect, like masseuse or balloon animal clown
He was more vigilant when he was younger, but now he definitely does not care about passing as human as much as he should. He'll say he's 24, forget completely, and then tell the next guy he's 26. He regularly gives Talia heart attacks about that.
He's able to act carefree because he has a plan and a connection for almost everything, and also because he's lived so long that he just does not care anymore
A lot of his plans were decades in the making, like his plans to avenge lemurians or his keeping tabs on MC
When he's done with an identity, he'll often fake his death by drowning. It's just the easiest.
His family in this timeline was like nobility back in Lemuria. He grew up with lots of tutors, and took classes on both Lemurian and human etiquette/culture. Of course, he used that knowledge to mess around on the surface.
He has beef with Talia's first two husbands. Just because. They aren't even alive anymore, he's just a hater.
When you get a polar bear plushie for the first time, he says something like "I was told to stay away from those" so yeah he definitely fought a polar bear as a kid
He was once banned from an aquarium for yelling at an octopus but in his defense, it was pretty rude
