Some words are more difficult than others

That changed entirely after episode 31. I do not see the ship and I don't think unless something drastic happens I ever will. Now. If we are talking about them forming a sibling like bond instead, THAT I would immediately agree too after everything they were talking about. Because THAT is the vibe I have been getting from these two for a long time and it was firmly cemented with everything in E31.

And I would love that for our necromancer wizard so much; to have a brother he can bicker and argue with as equals; who protects him and who he protects. Who pushes his buttons in a way that allows him to push back and grow. And eventually learn to trust beyond the battlefield. And I would love for our daring knight to have the same in him. They both need someone like that in their life. To me, that is far more interesting than any potentially romantic feelings developing between them.

I love complicated, flawed characters. I love characters who do terrible things because they have no other choice or because they convince themself they have no other choice. Lots of my favourite characters across all kinds of stories fall into that scpectrum. Boy oh boy can I not fucking stand Thjazi Fang and the more we learn about him the more this feeling grows.

And it's really interesting to me to try and figure out why that is. What is it about Thjazi that makes me detest him when I feel empathy for other characters who have possiby done worse? (I say possibly because there is much about Thjazi we don't know yet.)

I've given this a great deal of thought and I think I can finally point my finger on the reason why and it's thanks to one of the things Mara said in Episode 31:

"Thjazi was a bastard and a thief. He used and abused people." And then she concludes her speach with something that can be interpreted as "Buuuut thanks to him these good things happened, so there you go." Thjazi is a charming devil; a charismatic bastard. Most everyone who liked him agreed that he was problematic but it's brushed aside in a way that makes me really uncomfortable in a ends justifiy the means kind of way. Like "Yeah, he was kind of a dick sometimes but he had all that charisma!"

It's not a case of "We know what you have done, but we still like you despite of it." or a case of "What you have done in your past doesn't define who you are now." It's a "We like you so we are willing to overlook the bad things." - But in an unhealthy way. And these things are so close but they are not the same.
