I love Fail Date Atem. Atem is a dork like them all.

Sometimes I’m bewildered by how much one movie could affect me to the point where I write about it so often… But anyway, I recently picked up some new reading materials and started doing a bit of thinking about what a world post-DSoD would be like. Lots of ideology talk in this post.

Among the materials, two concepts occasionally pop up. The first common idea is that Kaiba repeatedly loses and visits Atem until old age. The second, is that Kaiba defeats Atem, returns to his world and moves on with this life; possibly pursuing a new gaming frontier with Yuugi. Either seem like a plausible outcome… But both seem too ordinary to carry on the spirit of DSoD for me.

“Our road of battle doesn’t end here”. This one sentence echoes throughout the entirety of Yu-Gi-Oh. That is…almost to say, it never really ends. Where is the end? It’s certainly not death. The flesh dies but the soul doesn’t. DSoD carries the dream of a world free from the constraints of the flesh. One where the only limits in place are the limits you set for your own mind.

everytime he introduces himself a loud sound goes off

he cant use his name bc its cursed and everytime someone tries to use it something explodes

hes got a grave case of chuunibyou and only gets introduces as “dark shadow lord of justice” or something like that

wrote his name on a paper and gave it to u but u cant fucking read

we never hear anyone call him by his name bc everybody is nervious about how to pronounce it

we know his name but everybody keeps mistaking him for yugi and he doesnt really correct them
