what i love so much about fushiguro megumi is that he so quietly subverts the expectations of his character, both within the literary world of jjk and also in our own perception of their universe as well. it's not just the typical "shounen protagonist" archetype that he strays away from, but it's also what he as someone who has inherited the ten shadows technique is expected to become in regard to jujutsu sorcery. yes, he has immense potential and yes, he has not lived up to all of it yet, but another coinciding truth that most people miss is that megumi does not want to pursue this path.

his cursed technique is something that had been written into him from birth, and we see multiple times during the show that this has the potential to completely shape one's disposition, a key example being gojo or geto. now megumi just happens to escape the reality where it reworks his entire being, and this is because of tsumiki and the way that megumi himself had been brought up by her. instead of being in an environment where he would've been consistently exposed to jujutsu sorcery and all its societal workings (such as the zenin clan), megumi's aspirations were rooted in trying to create a world where his older sister could live peacefully and happily.

we can compare his character to yuuji, even, who slots in nicely with all the qualities of a shounen protagonist: a strong will, immense power, and the desire to grow and become better. the final quality in particular is what's very crucial when analysing with megumi, because what i feel is not usually considered is what exactly we deem worthy of learning for the characters. for yuuji, this is of course jujutsu sorcery, for he wants to become stronger in order to save more people. that is something that he had been set on even before being exposed to the world of curses, and yet happened to coincide with their expectations of a powerful person.

megumi, however, does not share these same desires. he grows in power, of course he does, but we as readers don't see the same satisfaction and relief after he does so when in comparison to when yuuji reaches a milestone. and this i believe is rooted solely in the fact that to megumi himself, becoming a powerful sorcerer is not something that he is driven to improve for. it's to become someone who can support his sister, who can live a life devoid of curses or ill fortune. it's not something that anyone in the jjk-verse shares apart from nanami, who had long learnt to surpress these until his untimely demise, and it's certainly not something that anyone would believe he should be thinking.

you’ve stated you prefer platonic bakudeku, so why do you draw them so much? Is that just how you personally view their friendship or do you just often get commissions for them?

I mean, is there anything wrong or inherently less value to platonic dynamics hahahaha. two characters don't have to be romantically or sexually involved for me to still find them compelling :) I like to explore non-romantic love in my art and in fiction in general, I don't find most romances that compelling tbh

Because I love the contrast between Yor’s expression when she’s really starting to work out her true feelings for Loid and when Twilight is beginning to understand that he might actually have feelings for Yor.

AND THEN HOW THEY BOTH COME ABOUT ADMITTING SAID FEELINGS.

Yor is entranced, Twilight is distressed.

For Yor, there’s bright twinkly lights. For Twilight, there’s nothing but darkness. Chiaroscuro in the subtext, if you will.

Not to mention how Anya is a catalyst for Yor’s confession, while also being the reason that Loid doesn’t continue this line of thought.

Because I’m thinking about it.

I want to talk about this panel because I probably have a different take on this than most of the fandom.

In Spy x Family Chapter 104, we are introduced to the ancient Miteran Empire and a mysterious giant flower called Gesshokuran ("Lunar Eclipse Orchid"). During this chapter, it's also said that society experienced a "treasure hunting boom," becoming obsessed with uncovering the "lost secrets of antiquity." I propose that the true "lost secret" wasn’t material wealth, but the Gesshokuran itself, a flower capable of granting supernatural powers.

The symbolism around the flower is crucial. Anya loses her telepathy during a lunar eclipse, which can’t be a coincidence. It strongly suggests that her powers are directly tied to the Gesshokuran. This flower may be the original source of supernatural abilities in the Spy x Family world. It’s worth noting that the Gesshokuran is a completely new species unique to this world, not something found in real life, a deliberate piece of worldbuilding that signals its importance.

In Chapter 115, the Shopkeeper’s ideology offers more clues. He shows strong loyalty to the ancient Miteran Empire and reveres elks as divine beings specifically Miteran elks, these animals were sacred to the empire. Garden’s deep respect for nature and their selective missions hint that Garden may have originally been the assassination arm of the Miteran Empire, tasked with protecting its secrets and sacred resources like the Gesshokuran (Garden protecting the Flower).

Building on this, it’s possible that Westalis and Ostania were once a single nation (the Miteran Empire) before wars and conflict split them apart. The remnants of the empire’s traditions, ideology, and possibly supernatural knowledge could have survived in hidden organizations like Garden.

Anya’s proficiency in classical language, many assume it’s because the laboratory that experimented on her spoke it. But what if those scientists used the classical tongue because they, too, were obsessed with the Miteran Empire’s lost knowledge? Their experiments could have been direct attempts to recreate or harness the ancient powers tied to the Gesshokuran.

This raises another possibility: Was Yor experimented on as well? Her extraordinary physical strength, far beyond normal human limits she might be another product of such experiments.

It got me thinking that they would absolutely geek over the Artemis II mission.
