2016 → 2026 (wip!)

part of me wishes I could go back and rewrite my importance of hats series since it’s the one that has the most traction. and now eijun actually has smth written on his hat in canon (!!!) and ahhhh I am unhappy with a lot of the choices I made. but it’s a product of its time and I hold it dearly for that. so here we are ig.

Seido was staying at a hotel by the stadium the night before the final for some reason. This seemed to be after the misawa angst after the ichidai game. There was a garden in the middle, and Sawamura was walking around it, sulking. He was accompanied by someone, but I can’t remember who.

On his way back to his room, he runs into Miyuki and sees him walking with Furuya. He runs away saying something like, “I’ll make you acknowledge me as the ace some day!” Miyuki is confused, but Furuya tells him in his usual cool and calm way that the captain could be more honest with Eijun. And Miyuki is surprised to be chided by him.

Then it cuts to Miyuki having caught up to Sawamura. They don’t talk at first, but then Miyuki says something like, “I’m terrified of losing tomorrow.” And at first Sawamura is quiet. So then Miyuki continues voicing his own insecurities. I can’t remember what all he said.

Then Sawamura turns and starts responding to each of Miyuki’s insecurities. “This team isn’t going to lose.” He has that so very Sawamura look on his face that’s full of determination. He knows that Miyuki is trying to share something with him that no one else gets to see.

Miyuki smiles and laughs a bit. Then he hands Sawamura his Seido uniform hat and asks him to take care of it for him until tomorrow. Then he walks away.
