Me when I randomly remember that the cult kidnapped Jameson put a bag over his head had him chained (while he fought his brain to stay calm) and then stabbed him then poisioned him again when he fought to get out of the said chains and then the cult almost burnt him alive while he screamed (while the clt was talking about the price of wheat and his monolouge said please let me go)- fainted again because of the smoke and then he woke up again and his dead grandma (who said I would have done more if he had know smth real abt the cult) threatened him with Avery and his brothers by giving him a physical reminder of the untraceable poison and also he has memory gaps so he does not really remember everything so that haunts him too

Now the same cult has kidnapped Avery too, so the same shit might be happening to her

Reading gr I was soo confused and pissed off at Jameson from time to time when he was acting like a maniac whenever Alice was even mentioned thinking bro it cannot be that bad if you told that secret yourself twice in tbh....

But then I read pain at the right gun and then re read that night in prague and then re read TBH and then I realised that fuck this guy had severe ptsd and was scared of himself that he would go after this mystery- solving mysteries is the way his brain was wired and he is hungry so how could he trust himself to not go after this mystery (he is supposed to take risks no one else would to be considered above ordinary)

So then I thought why tf would u tell the the mercy head that secret?

The answer being he wanted to let out the secret because it was eating at his brain every damn second.

but telling the secret meant putting people in danger..... but then again the mercy was a secret too and how would Alice get in there (ig he thought it was safe way to vent) so the proprietor wont tell anyone and that way he could get in on the game to distract himself from the whole alice shit because he had written it down it should not matter anymore and prove himself to his father.

at the end of the book he told Avery the truth because he didnt want any secrets between them and he because he could trust himself to not go after this mystery.

he regretted writing down that secret at the mercy that much was evident when Zella had the paper which Avery burnt hence making his insecurites that he is impulsvie (he is) flair up.

So then why is he soo damn pissed when people were saying 'the name' in gr....... Its because he was scared of that freaking name and he knew the cult was lurking near by (we dont see it but Jameson was angsty the whole book for more reasons than just Lyra having an anon sponsor so I think smth had happened that we dont know yet)

AND THEN BOOM I ACTUALLY REALISED SMTH.

JAMESON HAD NEVER SAID ALICE'S NAME OUT LOUD EVEN IN TBH both the times he told the secret he WROTE IT DOWN because he was scared that even if someone was watching them they would not find out. So it finally made sense why he was angsty anytime someone took her name because it was evident from tnip that Alice will keep an eye on him and saying her name would reach back to Alice and Avery would be in danger which is what happened his worst nightmare came true.

So he was actually very scared the whole of gr doing impulsive shit he would not have done uk after all that development.

Jameson following the trail in prague was not a mistake Tobias left cluse on purpose, but Jameson spilling the lie at the mercy was a bad call and he is paying the price somehow now.
