the centaurs are in the airport waiting to board, sitting in front of a gigantic billboard of shane promoting gatorade. it’s a very closeup picture of him with the bottle near his face. one of the rookies goes “hollzy looking nice here” and all the team starts teasing shane. and he’s blushing but not putting a stop to his team’s shanenigans. then ilya gets up to look at it closely and turns around really mad and goes irritated “WHERE’S YOUR FRECKLES?” and shane’s like “ilya it’s just an ad” and ilya argues “your freckles are more important than this fucking gatorade, i’m calling yuna” and shane snorts shaking his head and wyatt says “he’s right hollz, your freckles are kinda iconic” and troy says at ilya “just don’t tweet about this, please, i’m hoping to take harris on a date when we get back home”

thinking about the boston raiders spending years watching ilya flirt with models, actors, pop stars, and all sorts of Professionally Hot People. always at the top of his game, no matter how famous or supernaturally attractive they are. no one’s seen him so much as stutter when chatting up someone whose face looks perfect on a billboard and somehow better in real life.

then the raiders shoot a PSA for the boston library. it’s the first time ilya’s been in a library since he was a child. and he simply cannot handle the librarians. they spend an extra hour filming because ilya stutters whenever someone with glasses asks him a direct question. he misspells his own name while getting a library card when the man helping him rebuttons the top of his collared shirt. he tries to flirt with a woman reshelving books by asking her what the numbers on the spines mean and if he can get hers; she doesn't clock his pick-up line and explains the dewey decimal system to him for ten minutes. ilya blushes the entire time.

marley tells this to shane years later and shane is like,,,that tracks and no i will not elaborate. but we own an industrial grade glasses cleaner because i couldn’t figure out how else to get cum out of the crevices.

Really enjoying the idea that Grace's angry outburst in Denmark became a meme. The Angry Scientist. It shows up in discussions of egregiously bad sci-fi movies and arguments with antivaxxers and astrophage deniers, in forms ranging from pristine screencap to super-crunchy jpeg. There's an animated parody in the style of Ace Attorney. His students use it without realizing it's him.

In his first week on the Gansu six different people asked him about it and four asked Stratt why she hired Angry Scientist Meme guy.
