“Arya your sister’s asleep…” Not that Minisa had ever lived in a world where there wasn’t an endless line of siblings barreling in and out of the house at all hours. She could probably sleep though a hurricane. “Roddy’s alright isn’t he? He’s not… “ Cat felt the boy’s forhead and then she saw the test.

“You missed your period didn’t you?”

Arya nods and chews her lip. “Uh-huh… by - by a couple of days but you know my hormones are still so out of whack and- and we’ve only just given up on trying to pump for him so I thought - I thought maybe I was just being paranoid but - but I don’t think I am.”

She holds out the test to her mum. 

“Bran wasn’t lesson enough to not turn into me?” She’d barely been cleared for sex after Arya had been born before Bran was on his way. One bloody night was all it took. “No pills yet I take it? You didn’t think your period was back did you?” 

Another little Starkling to add to the ever expanding family it seemed. There would not be another sibling to match this one. Roddy was just going to have to deal with it. “When’s your next doctor’s appointment?”

She’d always done she was told. Take care of Lysa and Edmure, be the lady of the castle until Father remarries, marry Lord Stark’s eldest son. . . no marry the second son who’s the heir now, be the Lady of Winter. . . she didn’t want to do it anymore. She wanted him. No one had questioned who got what. There’d never been a question before. Ben was the third son. Ben was the baby. All of it lock, stock.., and fiancée went to Eddard when Aryes murdered his brother. If the royalist won none of it would matter Eddard would lose his head and she’d be given to whoever the royalist men saw fit: whoever took Riverrun from her Father like as not. If the rebels would it would be Robert Baratheon on the throne. He was Eddards best friend; there was little doubt in Cat’s mind where his loyalty lay. He’d insist Eddard retain the title he’d so recently inherited.

“Father gave Lysa to Jon Arryan, and me to your brother. The price of Tully men to save your sister. The wedding’s in a week. Eddard only rode back to get Robert, they were calling up Father’s bannermen who’ve been. . . slow.”

She flushed scarlet chin to hairline. Roose Bolton had been behind those tales. Disgusting rumors that Robb was Brynden’s child. A bastard boy to bind the Starks to a match that could be replaced so Ned could make a better one.“No one believes a word about Robb’s paternity if they have any sense.” He looked too much like a Stark for any of that to be believed. “Your mother was as redheaded as I am that’s why he looks the way he does.” It just happened neither Ned nor his siblings had taken after Lyrra in coloring. “My son isn’t the one who’s destined for the throne.”

Thank the Gods- old and new- Robb wouldn’t be on the throne. Ned had had teh chance to take the Mad King’s throne and given it to Robert. Let him deal with the headaches that came with a royal title.
