Summer is for shipping (and for looking forward to autumn and winter).
This summer I ship Game of Thrones' (show) Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy. Hopefully it scanned well; you never know with ink- and coffee-wash.

Bran saw his father’s face change, saw the other men exchange glances. He loved Jon with all his heart at that moment. Even at seven, Bran understood what his brother had done. The count had come right only because Jon had omitted himself. He had included the girls, included even Rickon, the baby, but not the bastard who bore the surname Snow, the name that custom decreed be given to all those in the north unlucky enough to be born with no name of their own.

"asoiaf is bad because it's only about the royalty/nobility, not the peasants"
aside from all the other problems with that complaint, that's the point. that's the point that martin is making. have you considered that the focus on the nobility is in service of the point of the novels
"asoiaf is bad because of all the violence against women"
once again. have you considered that the violence against women (and children and men and animals and yourself and the world at large) is the point. do you think perhaps that the "violent patriarchy harms everyone and ultimately twists all noble ideas into terrible ends" books are by chance using the violence against women (and children and men and animals and yourself and the world at large) in service of the point that they are making.
Someone loved me once, I think

tagged by @inkandarsenic to share some of a wip, so here's a little something I'm working on for reyne week. tagging @silentstep, @istaricelebelasse, @ladycatofwinterfell, and any one else who wants to share something.
She braced herself against the statue of the Stranger, her bloodied hands slipping down the folds of the stone robes and leaving red streaks behind as her knees buckled beneath her. She sobbed, heaving gasps for air between her tears.
“Give him back,” she demanded, her voice hoarse. “Give him back.”
Eventually her tears dried, her sobs trailed off, and she looked up. She wasn’t in the sept anymore; instead she was in a dark, silent forest. The air was heavy with power. She stood, still clutching the crown. Her knees were weak and her head swam from her tears.
There was a rough stone table before her, bloodied and scratched. Figures appeared in the corners of her eyes, shadows moving silently among the trees.
She approached the table, and the shadows she had seen took forms. Two stood by the table: a woman wearing a flat wooden mask without eyes, only two curves carved in that wept red. Her hair was made up of red leaves, fluttering slightly as she moved. Jeyne had seen weirwoods only a few times, but there was no mistaking them. A man with dark hair wearing furs and a crown of swords stood next to her, an enormous black wolf by his side. It could only be a direwolf, full-grown and wearing a thin ribbon around his neck.
The man reminded her of Robb, but she couldn’t quite place how. Maybe something in his brow, maybe something in his jaw. He, too, was enormous; twice the size of an ordinary man and broad-shouldered as a tree.
“Jeyne,” he said, his voice, even soft, like thunder.
“My lord,” she said, curtseying. It seemed a safe title.
He roared with laughter. “She calls me my lord!” Jeyne felt her face burning. “No, no, call me Grandfather! After all, you are my grandson’s wife.”
“Are you Lord Rickard, then?”
“I am Bran, first of my name! And this is Grim.” He patted the wolf. Jeyne had been scared of Grey Wind, but she thought she might not be anymore. Grim was enormous, his teeth like swords when he yawned. This was a full-grown direwolf of the ancient age; Jeyne had no words for his size.

Theon getting very sick and Sansa taking care of him. feeding him soup. reassuring him when he's having fever dreams. holding his hand and telling him very sternly that he's not allowed to die.
three sentences game:
Then Circe laughs again, though it's not the familiar theatrical cackle; just a low little chuckle, like she's telling herself some private little joke just for her own amusement. That's probably a worse sign than the supervillain cackle, Cassie can't help feeling.
No, that's definitely a worse sign than the supervillain cackle.
Before her was another pair of Robbs; this time they knelt in prayer. One before the altar of a ghostly sept, seven-colored light streaming from the window. Fires flickered in the braziers; incense clouded around his head and drifted out among the trees. One before a weirwood tree, a red rictus carved bloody in the white bark, his sword unsheathed before him as he bowed his head in silent prayer.
Jeyne bit her lip. The Old Gods had always scared her. Some things, Lady Catelyn had told her, were simply part of the North, and she should simply be patient and wait—but she had never truly liked having a husband with such strangeness to him.
But Robb did keep the Seven; he had made offerings to them before battle, and joined her prayers to the Mother for a child, and wed her in the small sept in the Crag.
