while i respect everyone over on twitter wanting to "tumblr" elon musk, and they may even be able to do something similar, the only true way to pull off what tumblr did to verizon is to straight face post cringe and awful shit on twitter so severely it actively tanks investments. tumblr did this without trying and borderline on accident. you have to scare away every advertiser except ball shaving ads. you have to become hated by every corner of the internet. you have to bring apple to its knees and force it to remove twitter from the app store. quite literally good fucking luck, god speed warriors, i cant wait to see what actually happens but it is so bold to think what tumblr did wasnt just a perfect storm of degeneracy, drama, staff incompetence, and straight up criminal content.

Full time work should entitle someone to enough pay for rent, food, bills, and leisure activities. Full time work for a full life wage. You put in your 8 hours a day, 5 days a week? You should be able to afford the basic shit you need in life, no matter where you work.

I do agree with this but from economic standpoint if you are working at a job like McDonalds as someone flipping burgers and making fries you are getting paid for the amount of skill needed for the job. But if its any other job that requires you to have an actual skill that you can make a career out of then yeah you should be getting paid enough to live a standard life.

People like this are why we can’t move on to issues like reducing how many hours is full time, or working out UBI. We’re going to need to do that. Most people just don’t know what’s coming down the pipeline, without a major change to the structure of the economy, we’re looking at large scale permanent unemployment, even in the “skilled” labor force.

I had a blind professor, last semester, and I swung through his office to make up an exam. It was a while before I knew he was in there because he was sitting with the lights off. I finally went in, apologized, and took the exam by the light of a nearby window (which was fine). Forty-five minutes into dead silence he panicked and yelled in this booming voiced, “WAIT, YOU CAN SEE!!!” before diving across his desk to turn on the lights. I’m sure he was embarrassed but I thought it was endearing and it highlighted a large aspect of disabled life that I hadn’t previously considered.

These are cool things to maybe consider when writing a character with these disabilities!!
