you’re not stupid anon it’s all good! melanin is what gives skin its range of color (lighter tones having less melanin, and darker tones having more) and basically what i mean is that monolith has really pissed me off with how they’ve handled their dark skinned characters in the definitive edition’s “HD-ness”. 

Alvis has undergone, as far as I’ve seen, the most dramatic change, which aggravates me for obvious reasons.

not to be mad petty but like literally all they did for most of the models is like. raise the saturation and brightness respectively in like.....photoshop. like that is the vibe im getting from these pallet grabs. and i’m hearing from folks that they rebuilt their shit from like the ground up but somehow yall cant preserve your characters skin tone. not just on the Preserve Representation side, but like that is bad modeling work. wtf lmfao

anyway if you’ve played the old game, youll notice that sharla, dunban, alvis, and reyn (although fairly) are all noticeably lighter, especially when in comparison to the environment. as far as i see otharon is relatively the same, which makes it DOUBLE interesting that somehow he’s retained his dark tone but every “main” character has not. hmm. hm. interesting.
