Beautiful Cosmos
As the Milky Way paints the night sky with rivers of ancient light, we remember: we are but a single breath in the endless cosmos, yet the same stardust flows through our veins. In this vast silence, our dreams become galaxies, our love becomes constellations. Look up… and feel the universe looking back at you.

Edit: It’s Kenneth Stewart’s “Cosmos” (1970) - @undergroundrockpress has a much better quality version over here!

Tea Meditation Ceremony Casey Shields
Come join us as we dive into the practice of Cha Dao on XXXX. In this workshop, we use the elements to carefully re-awaken Tea and allow her to gently guide us into a soft meditation. Through this practice, we open our hearts and minds to the vibrations around us. This ceremony is a dance of elements that help to ground us and re-awaken our connection with one of earth’s oldest medicines. By meditating with Tea, we allow the universe to guide our session. Each bowl we serve is a different experience than the last. Tea Ceremony begins in silence where we will share anywhere from 4 bowls to 6 bowls of tea before we open the room for discussion. The Teas utilized are considered Living Teas. In other words, Teas that are grown and sustainable processed. They are often from organic plantations or wild old growth trees that have existed for generations before we were born.
About the Teacher
Casey's journey began along the south shore of Long Island. Whether it was running the Long Beach boardwalk, boarding in the surf, or meditating and practicing yoga in the sand, a deep connection formed with the waves. The rhythmic teachings of the ocean allowed for the perfect backdrop to quiet reflection of Self. Through this harmonious kinship with the salt and sand, Casey has journeyed farther to unite mind, body, and spirit with our great mother. Through her introduction to Global Tea Hut she discovered that the marriage of water and leaf had a profound effect on her routine. The incorporation of tea to her meditation practice has truly centered her. Additionally, she pulls inspiration and influence from the writings and lessons of Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Saul David Rave, as well as Wude & The Global Tea Hut Family. It has been through the incorporation of tea into her daily meditation that Casey has found her truest self. The concordance of the leaf and the feminine divine is one of great importance and Casey strives to help all individuals find a connection with feminine intuition and to follow their true path.

The nature of retail is changing. Between rents that drive mom and pops out, and Amazon replacing the experience families had walking around the mall, (the tweens natural first space to experience a modicum of independence), the brick and mortar is becoming a thing of nostalgia. I'm not trying to be sad about it. It's more like being an anthropologist, detaching a little to get some perspective. People shop at tiny book stores, and find the title on Amazon for half the price because a warehouse in Kentucky is not the same per square foot as a store in a city, and the minimum wage is different as well. @vicenews recently did a piece that highlighted some research that the fulfillment center jobs might be better paying and more secure, and higher in number than a retail job at sears, but more physical. In the future, will the only place to interact with strangers be major cities and restaurants? I am not trying to hold on to the equivalent of a horse and buggy business while the car is being invented, but I'm wondering what will be on the first floor of buildings in twenty years, where will tactile experiences be had when you visit major cities besides bars? I love to think of the Marquez novels and the descriptions of the merchants lined up, all the senses ignited, all the energy moving. Will this be relegated to a screen? Kurt Vonnegut wrote a short story where he is heading out to a post office and his wife tells him he can print postage online, and he says that going to the post office, those little errands, for him, are life. (Agree to disagree about living the post office, but you catch my drift.) Cultivating an experience is an amazing privilege that I get to experience in this lifetime. It feels surreal when people ask me, "Can you write the information for me so I can buy this online?" They have no idea about my mentality, and I have none about theirs. Innovation and empathy are two exercises of the imagination and right now it's the richest resource I have. What makes your textile experience in little stores worthwhile? Why support small businesses aside from ethics and nostalgia? What do you want to experience now and in the future? (at Myths of Creation)
This is paco aka peach tree yesterday in the drizzle of the full moon. It was quite a doozy for the two of us. Our subconscious was like, sorry we really really want you in dream land today. I did all my #manymoonsworkbook exercises curated/written by @gottesss, I even did m my Deepak/Oprah meditation (which really are effective for me... the Sanskrit mantras jive with my chatty mind.) I felt restless, not centered, strange, far away. I went right into dreaminess and could barely remember anything that happened in my deep dreaming. I took a nap, a hot salt bath and tried to write and the only clear message I could hold onto was...wait for it... Whitney Houston's Greatest Love of All. When I was a kid I felt so hard on ballads like these. I'm talking five or six. I actually read the lyrics yesterday and was going over them in the shower and they're such a perfect message for my Aquarius Leo axis, which is about skipping in a playground childlike joy, and the collective, how to balance what kaypacha, the astrologer, calls polarity points. It might sound different than a Rumi poem but pop culture can have the same effect on us as ancient folklore or any other form of "messaging." (That's why @Bjork makes pop music instead of complex avant garden stuff, which she is very much capable of doing.) If there is some integrity in the intention of the creator, some open channel to what makes someone create, the messages operate exactly the same. Film and tv are now the most popular way to form a shared archetype in the collective conscious and therefore subconscious. These art forms know now hierarchy once they're in or muscle memory. "I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadow. If I fail, if I succeed, at least I did what I believe...." My spirit guides were all like, lighten up, xenia. Just remember when you were five and you wanted to belt out diva ballads and to wear 25 bracelets and stand in a spotlight, and maybe you can stop laughing and making fun of and demonizing that little girl and actually let her sing. I heard the message, now the challenge for me is to learn how to be kind to myself and to make the space to integrate. (at East Williamsburg, Brooklyn)

I love this embroidered table cloth which now belongs to my reiki ceremonies. When I was about twelve I was super into my moms sheets/cloths with these colors and style from the Philippines. No one my age shared my interest and even my parents seemed mildly confused about it. These fabrics and embroidered styles have been enjoying a bit of a renewed light in the last ten years and I am so happy I kept these sheets with me, traveling around since I was a teenager. I used to buy special light bulbs at hot topic and drape lace over my karaoke machine to make a private singing chamber and record my voice singing a song, and then make a recording using that recording as a backing track and on and on, multitracking the Same helium song over itself so I could record harmonies, degrading and distorting the original track. I made tents of these sheets in my room... It never occurred to me I was connecting with my culture in some weird way. Or maybe some last life. Or maybe my DNA and my need to play. In honor of Leo season, may we play and be bright, experiment and share, be granted the light of an audience when we want to entertain, to be royal. (at Myths of Creation)
