fitz, every day for a year: hey should we maybe do something about the fact that regal is clearly planning a coup. like, he tried to kill verity using galen, he tried to kill me and burrich. he’s keeping everyone away from his ailing father and drugging him. like its not even subtle at this point. he has a vision board i think.

This is my favorite joke from all the series.
Sorry, no Beloved in my top three (I am ready to be mauled to death by the fans). Perfect and tragic and everything this character is but the jokes are expected with that one and unexpected jokes are much more impactful on me.
Meanwhile, Patience has a comedic timing that could put Chade back in his tower.
And also, even though I 100% think that comedy and tragedy are the best mix in an objective way...
Comedy and love/kindness as a combination just hit the spot for me.
This moment is both hilarious and wonderfully cute and heartwarming. It is one of the few moment we see Fitz sincerely happy and feeling loved without any issue, not holding it back or feeling undeserving. He is not lying, hiding or anything. He is loved and enjoys it in a cute way by laughing.
He went there trying to protect people, he felt like a man because he was the one with the responsibility to keep those he loves safe. And Patience just threw him off balance and put him back to his place : her son. She protects him. She loves him. She is the adult, he is the child. He can relax a little.
This moment was perfect.
And then Lacey was badass so even more perfect.♥
(Now I wonder how many time Patience made Chivalry laugh the same way)
