intimacy with tension
locking fingers without even thinking about it as soon as their hands accidentally brush
pulling them in by their tie/scarf
leaning in for a kiss but hovering just out of reach with a tiny, smug smile
kneeling before them to help put their shoes on or take them off
grabbing them by their chin when they're mouthing off
sitting on their lap facing them, putting arms over their shoulders and leaning in with a small grin
slowly approaching as the other walks backwards until their back hits the wall
realizing the other is watching and making just the tiniest head tilt and smirk, but it's enough to frazzle their partner
resting their hand on the other's knee, absentmindendly rubbing their hand up their thigh
approaching from behind and kissing their shoulder as the other watches in the mirror
Whumpee who only cares about making sure Caretaker is okay.
Caretaker isnât even with Whumper, but Whumper knows how much they care about them so thatâs the threat they use to get Whumpee to talk or submit to them.
Or Caretaker is there too, Whumpee just makes sure they take all of the beatings to Caretaker never gets touched.
Whumpee clinging to Caretaker when theyâre finally able to.
Caretaker trying to reassure Whumpee that theyâre not hurt while also trying to get Whumpee off of them so they can bandage their wounds.
Whumpee who basically has separation anxiety now, waking up in a panic in the hospital because Caretaker is gone and theyâre worried something happened to them.
Whumpee not even realizing theyâre injured because theyâre so focused on making sure Caretaker is okay.
I love the idea of Caretaker being the only thing that can bring Whumpee comfort, but itâs just because Whumpee basically is playing doctor to them.
someone who refuses to admit something is wrong vs. a caretaker who knows them well and has Had Enough
âyouâre not fine. youâre hurt. please let me see see it.â
âhow long have you felt like this? âŚyou know exactly what i mean.
âshould i believe you or the thermometer?â
âwhat are you doing up??â
âitâs okay if it hurts, you know.â
"Shirt." [impatient gesture] "Off." [glare] "NOW."
"I can hear your teeth chattering from all the way over here."
[hands-on-hips one-eyebrow-raised stare]
"We can agree that you're not currently dying. Now please let me try to keep it that way."
when an already injured character gets tossed like a ragdoll into their buddy by some violent force/explosion/magic/collision (pick your poison) and they both go down hard. the shredded and bruised elbows and knees donât matter, nothing else matters because they have their friend back⌠except their friend hasnât moved or talked or made a sound, limp in their arms. so they roll them over in their lap and sure enough theyâre passed the fuck out. hey. no, no, no, no. the pleading spills out of them as their hands scurry over the slack planes of their friendâs face, but no matter how much they shake them, or call their name, they remain ashen and bloody, their breathing shaky and stuttering, there but barely, dead to the world for now. stay with me. they pull them close. please stay with me.

reasons B might be holding Aâs face in both hands
⢠calming A down or keeping them from passing out. âitâs just you and me, yeah? you and me, breathing. you can do that, right, A? câmon. breathe with me again.â
⢠distracting A from a heavily bleeding wound or broken bone being set. âah, ah, ah. look at me. lemme see those pretty brown eyes.â
⢠shaking them back to awareness, or trying. âA? jesus. A?! you with me?â
⢠pulling them out of a trance or a freeze-up. âhey. hey.â *pats A on the cheek* âthere you are. keep moving, kid.â
⢠B brushes away Aâs tears with the rough pads of their thumbs. could be hospital aftermath, or the end of a traumatic, adrenaline charged moment and the realization of the true cost is hitting A like a ton of bricks. âi know,â B whispers. doesnât shy away from the uncontrolled, raw display of emotion. holds fast. âi know.â
⢠A desperately needs rest and finally passes out with B there to anchor them. âlet go, kid. iâve got you.â
"I like you," Whumpee admits. They fold their arms close, shoulders bent just enough to hold off any sudden movement from Whumper.
Whumper doesn't say anything. A brief flash of something intense crosses their face. But it softens, almost melts away in place of a deep, tired expression.
Bridging the gap, Whumper pulls Whumpee's rigid body against theirs. Whumpee buries their face into Whumper's shoulder, waiting for the ax to fall, the derisive words to cut, the cruel laugh to affirm they were dumb to let themselves get close--much less admit they did.
Whumper's hands mellow down to the dips in Whumpee's waist. A thumb teases under their thick sweater, rubbing circles on the skin in short, staccato movements. As if Whumper's brain is churning so much, the thoughts escaped into their veins, tapping an unintelligible morsecode on Whumpee's body.
It's...comforting, in a way.
Whumpee doesn't move. Not because they're scared so much as they've never been held before. But then Whumper shifts, tilts Whumpee straighter. They dip closer slowly. Whumpee sucks in a breath as Whumper's lips hover a breath between them. "You're sure," Whumper's voice slips between the tension, "You're sure it's only 'like'?" Whumpee's eyes are closed, on instinct. They want to lean closer, want to bridge the gap. But that'd be more, wouldn't it? Do they want more? "Is it wrong that--" they breathe out their nervousness, "--that I don't know?" Somehow, Whumpee senses that Whumper's smiling. "No," They nuzzle Whumpee's hair, breath fanning Whumpee's knit brows, "I don't know, either."
Absolutely feral for Caretaker cupping Whumpee's face, thumbing away blood/sweat/tears with utmost gentleness aaaaaaa
Soooo fucking obsessed with the dynamic between a tired weapon of mass destruction and his weirdly intimate handler who genuinely wants the best for him but doesn't actually have enough power to free him, so they just do their best to try and look after him within the framework they have to operate in.
Grabbing him by the back of his neck and looking in his eyes, drilling an order because they know if he disobeys, he will get into trouble. Helping him hide his mistakes. Snapping at him and calming immediately when he flinches. Acting to others like they don't see him as more than an assignment but also not letting a single person fuck with him for no reason. Not being in a position where going easy on him is an option, so being intense and overbearing in this case is the only way they can look after him.
Whumpee having jealousy issues. Everyone gets far more attention than them and they're angry. They want to scream at them to acknowledge them. Notice them!
Please notice them!
But they don't. They don't want to be ungrateful.
Does anyone even notice them?

tw: Drugged/paralyzed
Whumpee woke up slung over someone's shoulder, unable to move. It was dark, and all they could see was the forest floor shifting beneath someone else's feet.
They tried to squirm, but nothing happened. A small whimper escaped them as the person carrying suddenly stopped. Gently, they were laid on the ground, their back pressing against the cold earth. Whumpee could barely make out their features, whoever it was, they didnât recognize them.
A gloved hand cupped Whumpeeâs face, causing them to flinch.
The figure tisked, then rolled up Whumpee's sleeve and injected a syringe into their arm.
The moment the needle pierced their skin, Whumpee lost the ability to make another sound. The fleeting sensation they had almost regained in their fingers quickly faded. The figure patted Whumpee's cheek, smiling when no response came.
With a grunt, they lifted Whumpee back over their shoulder and continued deeper into the woods.
"Where are you hurt" is always a delicious line no exceptions
it truly is!! especially when whumpee is either denying it, or it happened in the middle of the fight but caretaker had no way of talking to them, so they spent the entire second half of the battle terrified that they're grievously injured :)
"Where are you hurt?"
The answer is everywhere
Guilt in whump. Heavy emphasis on that guilt being felt by Caretaker or anyone close to Whumpee.
I love it when Whumpee isn't taken seriously. Maybe before the Whumpeningâ˘, they were known to be overdramatic, or are a 'person who cried wolf' type. So, when they tell Caretaker, who is actively tending to visibly wounded patients, that they're hurt, all they get is a brief once over and a "can't you just take a pain reliever? I'm busy."
And it happens, time and time again. Maybe Whumpee seeks out someone else, but everyone has the same dismissive attitude about it. Perhaps it gets to a point where people aren't just annoyed, but frustrated. 'This is serious, Whumpee, we don't have time to be messing around!' After numerous attempts, they still won't receive any help, and so they stop asking.
Things have seemingly gone back to normal. Then, Whumpee's legs give out, and they're unconscious before they even hit the floor. Caretaker is first to look, and feels their heart drop into their stomach when they find out Whumpee was, if anything, underestimating how bad it was.
They must have been hurting for days, possibly weeks. They came to Caretaker, whose entire job is to ease pain and mend wounds, and were turned away without much of a thought. They can't furrow their brow this time and ask Whumpee "why didn't you come find me?" because they didâ over and over.
Bonus points if Whumpee is alone when they finally collapse. No one finds them until they're in a puddle of their own blood, pale and far too easy to pick up.
Whumpeeâs hands were shaking as they wrapped them around the door handle. Free. They were free.
Sure, their ribs ached like the fiery craters of Jugnus, and they couldnât really feel their fingers anymore, but they were free. How long had they been down there, they wondered. How long had they been tied up, sustaining hit after hit from a monster theyâd once considered a friend?
They knew one thing for sure, though: Caretaker wouldnât hear a word of this. If only Caretaker wasnât one of only two doctors working on the ship. It was fine. They could go to Medic. Medic was cool. Medic let them calm down little kids whoâd seen far too much in their war-torn homes. Whumpee liked helping with that. It gave them something to do rather than wander around, only allowed on the rescue vessel because their sibling worked on it.
Medic had a habit of tattling on Whumpee, though. Better to not tell them about Whumper, either. Easy enough. Whumpee would rather swallow hot coals than talk about that monster ever again.
-
Medic was having a rough day.
Theyâd just landed on a new planet, and then Whumpee had to go run off to who-knows-where. Not that Whumpee were obliged to help Medic outâthe kid was still, well, a kid, after allâbut usually Whumpee agreed to help without much urging. Not today, though. Whumpee was nowhere to be found that morning, leaving Medic alone to deal with half of the injured population of Urding. Great. They could do that. This was what they were paid for, after all.
They were tending to an old person when the door swung open. They took a deep breath, put on their best calm-understanding-doctor face, and turned around to tell whatever injured citizen had just walked in to wait their turn.
It wasnât a citizen, though. It was Whumpee.
Medicâs shoulders slumped with relief. âWhumpee, hey, thank the stars,â they sighed, managing not to wince as their patient pursed their lips at the show of unprofessionalism. Whatever. Medic was done with this crap, and they needed their crowd-pleaser.
âI need help,â Whumpee said, and Medic bit back the urge to groan. Old Person probably wouldnât be too pleased to see that, after all.
âNot right now. Itâs really fucking busy,â a hmph from their patient, âAnd I need you working the waiting room.â
Whumpee faltered, and Medic prayed that the kid wasnât in a dramatic mood today. Normally, they treated Whumpeeâs eccentricity with all the patience they could manage, but that amount had exponentially dropped after working for 12 hours straight.
âMedic, Iââ
âWhumpee,â Medic snapped, and thankfully that seemed to get the kid in line.
âIâll⌠see what I can do,â Whumpee said, voice far fainter than it usually would be.
Medic had been too harsh. But then Whumpee was walking out to the waiting room, and Medic didnât have the time to apologize for hurting their friendâs feelings.
-
Whumpee spent the next few hours comforting a planetâs worth of people as they waited for their turns. Half a planetâs worth, they reminded themself, since Caretaker would be taking the other half.
It was a small planet. Barely ten thousand people. But five thousand people feels a lot bigger when everyoneâs stuck in an albeit large waiting room built for smaller rotations. It was weird to have everyone on board. Hadnât they just gotten there? Or had they been there for months? The whole kidnapping thing had screwed with their sense of time.
Everything finally wrapped up about nine hours later. Whumpee could see the sun rising through the shipâs reinforced windows. Their head was spinning, and the numbness had spread from their fingers to the better part of their arms, but everyone had either been seen or decided to get attention tomorrow.
Whumpee hobbled to Medicâs office. They fumbled with the handle, muscle memory failing them as their muscles called them out on their shit, but eventually got the door open.
Medic was slouched over their computer logs. They looked on the brink of death. They certainly didnât seem to be in the mood to help another needy patient.
But Whumpee had never been good at keeping their mouth shut.
âMedic?â
âWhat?â Medic snapped. Their voice wasnât filled with anger but exhaustion, but it made Whumpee flinch all the same.
Not Whumper. Not Whumper. Not Whumper.
âCould you⌠maybe look at me now?â they asked, far meeker than theyâd usually whine. The room was beginning to tilt, and Whumpee wasnât sure if they could feel⌠anything at this point.
âI told you, Whumpee, I donât have time for this right now.â Medic ran their hands over their face. âWhy donât you go see Caretaker?â
Whumpeeâs heart sank, and they somehow managed to go even more numb.
âMedicâŚâ
They couldnât go to Caretaker. Caretaker would freak out, and then Whumpee would have to talk about it, and they just couldnât do that. Not now, with the hurt so fresh. Not ever.
âAre you on the brink of death?â Medic asked, tone clipped. They turned so they were facing Whumpee. They looked so tired.
âI donât knowâmaybe?â
Medic groaned and looked away like Whumpee had told a bad joke. Then they got up and trudged to the sink to start washing up.
Whumpee watched in a dazed stupor. Was the faucet really loud, or were their ears ringing? They got the sudden urge to let themself collapse into a pile of hurt right here on the floor.
They realized, not with any small amount of delirium, that Medic would get annoyed by that.
Whumpee left the room.
-
They went to their sleeping quarters, then. Best Friend glanced up at them with a smile that quickly turned into a frown as Whumpee stumbled onto their bed.
âWhumpee?â they asked. Or⌠had they asked that? Maybe theyâd said something different. Something smarter. Best Friend was smart.
Maybe they hadnât said anything at all.
Whumpee fell asleep around then.
-
Whumpee couldnât breathe.
They woke up and they couldnât breathe. Every time they tried to inhale, their chest would refuse, squeezing so tight their eyes began to water. It was like being crushed, but there was nothing on them.
If they didnât go to someone, they were going to die.
They supposed that that would be harder to explain than the bruising.
It felt as though it took them years to stagger to their feet, and even then, they had to hug the wall to make it to the door. Every step sent a dull burning through their bones. They felt like they were melting from the inside.
Everything sort of⌠fazed out from there. They didnât remember walking through the hallway. They didnât remember navigating through a busy waiting room far quieter than the one theyâd been in yesterday. They didnât remember forcing a door open.
They just remembered Caretakerâs startled look at the bang that followed.
âWhumpee,â Caretaker said, their expression lacking its usual fondness. They looked tired. Just like Medic. Just like Whumpee. âNow is not the time.â
âIâm hurt,â they croaked out, and a twinge of concern pulled the corners of their siblingâs mouth downwards.
âWhat is it? Eat something funny?â
They hesitated. Had they eaten something funny? No. No, they didnât remember Whumper feeding them anything. The bastard wouldâve had to force it down their throat, and they were fairly certain theyâd remember something like that.
But as they opened their mouth to correct them, they felt the overwhelming nausea at the thought of Caretaker knowing.
Caretaker didnât need to know. They could just treat the symptoms, couldnât they? Yeah. Yeah, that would work.
âGuess so,â they said, jaw aching with the blatancy of the lie.
âTake some Ibuprofen. It should be in the same place as usual.â
âCaretaker,â Whumpee whined, and they could see by the tension lining their siblingâs frame that this was not the time.
âWhumpee, please. Iâm busy.â They gestured to a little kid sitting on the examination table. The kid had their pant leg rolled up, revealing a terrible burn on their knee that seemed to be covered in dust.
Whumpee swallowed. Yeah. Okay. They could wait.
âSorry,â they muttered, and that was all it took for Caretakerâs gaze to slide off of them.
Whumpee left the room.
-
Everything was aching.
Whumpee didnât leave their bed that much for the next few days. Best Friend gave them worried glances, but Whumpee wasnât in the mood to comfort anyone. They could only manage to curl up and wish for oblivion.
âYâknow, maybe you should see a medic,â Best Friend said one day. They were sitting on their bed, tinkering with some spare parts. Probably making a really cool contraption that would revolutionize the ship. Like a third medical wing. That would be nice.
Whumpee processed what their friend had suggested 10 seconds after they suggested it.
They snorted.
âNahhhhhh,â they said, voice cracking from disuse. Best Friend straightened up, startled at the disjointed sound.
âIâm serious, dude,â they said, voice a few notes higher. âYouâre not yourself.â
Maybe thatâs a good thing, Whumpee thought bitterly. âThemselfâ had gotten kidnapped and beaten by a deranged sadist. They thought that at least if they were lying still, they couldnât get any more hurt.
-
Maybe thatâs why they weren't the medic.
-
They woke up in the middle of the night to a sharp pain in their side. It was unlike anything they had ever felt before. It was worse than the beatings, worse than the palms and fists that had done this to them in the first place. Those were aching, but this? This was dying.
They were dying.
Fuck.
They didnât remember standing up. Their mind blanked out after their fifth failed attempt, but at some point, they were up on their own two feet. That point was very brief, though. They didnât remember the fall. Didnât remember much of anything after that point.
All they could recall was the terrible, awful pain that ate away at their bones and organs.
-
Caretaker was tired.
Leaving Urding had lessened the workload, they were ashamed to say. Not at first, but without the constant stream of people, Caretaker was able to make their way through the rescued population as quickly as was reasonable.
They weren't done. They were never done. But all of the most terrible wounds had been tended to, and finally their waiting room was empty.
The ship didnât have any wood to knock on, unfortunately.
The door slid open with the metallic whoosh Caretaker had grown to dread. Feeling very much on the brink of passing out, Caretaker forced themself to their feet and trudged out to see who it was.
âCaretaker!â
Caretaker startled. It was Best Friend. The engineer looked harried in a way Caretaker had never seen before. Best Friend was known for staying up for days on end working on their projects, yes. And they never quite managed to look completely sane, no. But the kid had always exuded an eccentric kind of composure that they were painfully lacking now.
Wrenched from their sleep-deprived stupor, Caretaker tensed, heart beating fast. âWhat is it?â
âItâs Whumpee,â Best Friend rushed out, and Caretaker felt their heart sink.
They tried to think back to the last time theyâd seen their sibling. They remembered the kid saying they were going out to meet a friend on Urding (should probably check in and see if the friend was dead), but that was right after theyâd landed. Everything after was rapid-fire diagnoses and stitches and balms. Caretaker couldnât remember a single patientâs face from the last week, and they were usually good about stuff like that.
âWhatâs wrong with them?â they asked, hoping and praying to whoever was out there that their little sibling was fine.
âYou gotta come,â Best Friend said, andâand they were crying.
The two took off.
-
They found them lying on their bedroom floor, a puddle of blood under them. Caretaker froze, their mind blanking, utter confusion seeping into their nerves.
Then they remembered.
âIâm hurt,â Whumpee had said.
Caretaker managed not to throw up as they and Best Friend carried the pale child down to Medical, but it was a near thing.
-
Medic got the message just as they were dozing off for the first time in days. They snapped to attention, panic easing back into exhausted exasperation as they checked their communicator. It was a message from Caretaker:
blue wing asap
Medic made their way across the ship with a distinct mix of annoyance and concern. The doors whirred open, and both emotions blinked out as a wave of disbelief crashed over them.
Whumpee was lying down shirtless on a medical bed, the sheets stained scarlet. Caretaker looked up at them as they walked in, eyes crazed.
âGet over here,â they barked, and Medic did as commanded.
-
Whumpee awoke with the vague notion that they were dead. The pain was still present, still excruciating, but it had eased off as soon as theyâd passed the currently-dying stage to the already-dead one.
âWhumpee?â Caretaker asked.
At least it sounded like Caretaker. Except Caretaker wasnât dead, so Whumpee must be mistaken.
âWhumpee, hey, I know youâre awake.â Whoever it was sounded desperate. There was a hand on their cheek, then, and all Whumpee could manage was a discomforted squeak. The hand withdrew immediately.
âAlright, alright,â it said, now a chastised whisper. âYou can rest.â
-
The next time Whumpee awoke, they felt like they were dying again.
I thought we finished this part, they thought as their ribs burned and their skin stung.
âMedic! Get in here!â
Footsteps, quick footsteps. They went step, step, step, but faster, like step-step-step. Then there were more voices talking, but Whumpee couldnât make out what they were saying for some reason. They realized belatedly that it was because of the incessant beeping coming from somewhere in the room.
Hands on them again. Their eyes fluttered open as red-hot pain stabbed through their stomach, and they howled just as they had when they were with Whumper. Were they back with Whumper? Surely not. Theyâd escaped. Theyâd lost a part of themself in the process, sure, but theyâd done it.
The hands didnât go away, though. They tried to squirm out of their reach, but the hands were too strong and Whumpee was too weak.
ââtopââ they sobbed, their lips numb and useless.
But the hands didnât stop, and soon the pain was too much, and they fell into darkness once more.
-
The next time, they were back to a normal pain level, and their head felt a lot clearer than it had before. Not just before in the darkâthey felt better than they had before they died.
Being a little more lucid, they began to question how realistic that thought was.
They opened their eyes. The room was dark. Dark, dark, dark. Light enough to tell that they were indoors, though.
They were⌠in bed. A bed stained red. Had they made all that mess? They felt their cheeks begin to heat, but they were quickly distracted by the person asleep in a chair at the bedside.
Caretaker.
Not dead, then. Unless something had gone wrong with Urdingâs evac.
âCaretaker?â they croaked, and Caretakerâs head shot up.
They looked at Whumpee with red-rimmed eyes that widened impressively as they took in their injured sibling, awake and somewhat aware.
âWhumpee,â they said, more of an exhale than a word, like anything else would shatter the kid lying in front of them.
ââelloâŚâ
Caretakerâs expression crumbled even more, and they reached out for their sibling before hesitating and drawing back. Whumpee shifted uncomfortably. Had they done something wrong?
âHowâre you feeling?â Caretaker asked, voice strained with more terror than Whumpee had ever heard before.
Their mind blanked on the question. They were in a lot of pain, yes, but relatively speaking, they were alright.
âBeen better,â they settled on, trying to smile convincingly.
Caretaker worried their lip between their teeth, eyes intense as if they were trying to memorize Whumpeeâs very essence. âHow much do you remember?â
Whumpeeâs body stuttered like a scratched record. The memories surfaced just as quickly as they blotted out, ink spilling across anything too graphic. They shrugged. Caretaker grimaced.
âWhumpee,â they pleaded, and Whumpee shrank under the guilt of it all.
âTell me what happened?â Whumpee asked, their request as selfish as it was necessary.
Now it was Caretakerâs turn to tense. âYouâŚâ they started, voice cracking horribly on their first word. They tried again, âYou passed out, Whumpee. Best Friend found you, but, uh⌠weâre not sure how long it took them to.â
Passed out. That was probably the âdyingâ part they remembered.
âIâm sorry,â Whumpee mumbled, their ears warm from Caretakerâs burning gaze.
âWhumpee,â Caretaker said, aghast. âDo notâno. No, justâplease, Whumpee, tell me what happened.â
Whumpee shook their head, vision blackening for a few seconds at the very idea. Caretaker looked destroyed, and Whumpee knew it was their fault, but they were too weak to give their sibling what they wanted.
âHow long have you been hurting?â Caretaker asked.
Whumpee knew this one. They knew it, they knew it, they knew it, but they still had to dig deep into the depths to retrieve the information.
âA bit after we landed.â
âWhy didnât youââ Caretaker cut themself off, somehow managing to look even more pained. âNo, no, you did, youâŚâ
Whumpee frowned in confusion. Caretaker looked away.
âYou came to me. I remember.â
âCaretakerââ
âI turned you away.â Caretakerâs voice caught on every word, forever brittle. âWhumpee, IâWhumpeeâŚâ
âDonât. Donât do that, pleaseââ
Caretaker hugged them, desperate but gentle, and Whumpee managed to bite down the sound of hurt fighting to get out of them. To rip their sibling apart even more than they already had.
âIâm sorry, Iâm so, so sorry, Iâmââ Caretaker whispered into their hair, every apology a stab to their heart.
âStop, stop, stopââ Whumpee gasped, curling further into Caretaker, who obediently fell quiet.
Whumpee was shaking, and they needed to stop shaking because it was really hurting them, but they weren't in control of their body anymore. Whumper had taken that control away and abused it until Whumpee was nothing but a broken toy, forever doomed to be theirs.
Caretaker ran their hand through Whumpeeâs hair, and Whumpee did their best to ignore the fact that it was shaking.
There's something I really like about characters being taken care of for pretty normal, mundane accidents (well, much more mundane than most whump on tumblr).
A character drops a glass in the kitchen and they thought they swept up all the broken pieces, but hours later they step on a big shard. Their partner rushes to their aid, helping them to the sofa to carefully remove the glass and bandage up the deep cut left behind. They dote on them for the rest of the day, bringing them things and making sure they're resting, insisting that they don't walk on the injury for a day or two.
A character hits their head hard on something, and their partner immediately makes sure that the injury isn't serious and they check for a concussion. Once they know for sure that the character will be fine, they still let them take it super easy, promising to kiss it all better.
A character trips and falls in the hallway, twisting their ankle, and their partner insists on carrying them the rest of the way to wherever they need to go.
A skater takes a really nasty fall at the park and one of their friends calls the character's partner. They immediately rush over, gently carrying the protesting character to the car. Once they're both home, they give them a harsh talking-to about wearing protective gear and being less reckless, all while tenderly bandaging everything up. After all that tough love, they bring the character to bed and take care of them until everything is fully healed.
Whumpee found themselves in an argument. They thought it was just between the two of them, until whumper took a step closer and started shouting.
Suddenly, a hand gripped the back of whumpees coat and yanked them backwards. They hit someone's chest as arms wrapped from behind and held them.
"I would take that step back if I were you," Whumpee heard caretakers voice hiss from above them.Â

Whumpee's blood feels like it's boiling. Their skin is crawling from their spine to the neck.
Caretaker dropped to their knees by their side, carefully gathering them in their arms. They were so scared they were going to hurt them even more.
Whumpee see's Caretaker's mouth moving in a panic, but they can't hear or feel any other sensation beyond pain.
"We have to go- We can't stay here. I'm going to pick you up, okay?"
Whumpee just blinks at them and squints their eyes.
Caretaker sighes and goes to hoist them up. Before they do, they hold them in their arms for a moment, squeezing their shoulders and resting their chin on whumpee's head. They feel whumpee slightly relax to the point their arm drops.
If whumpee can't hear them, they'll assure them in any other way to keep them calm.
