obsessed with whenever logans subconscious view of sabes is given light, especially when the comic remembers to include the bit about how the weapon x experiment programmed that connotation(cuz its not fucking brought up enoughhhh)

"You killed him." "I killed him." then immediately having sabretooth show up on cue, representing the side of himself that he blames. man.

(also obsessed with any soulmate style wording, "I'm the only part o' you that's real, Logan. Everything else...is just a dream.")

as ive ranted about this a couple times before, but sabretooth tends to be someone logan heavily projects his own worst parts onto, acting as a vessel or ig even a mascot for logans inner shadow self

this 2 issue story ends with him facing his real shadow, along with the implication that its the thing he fears most, too much to even wanna look at(but manages to overcome the fear, and make it out the other side to begin another cycle in his life, bringing the 50 issue series to a close)

its rare that logan meets sabretooth outside of his costume. and even if he did, he'd likely still internally view him as such.

i think an example of this mental conditioning was shown best(tho perhaps unintentionally) in an episode of the animated series, Weapon X Lies and Video Tape(another rare occasion of a plot acknowledging the implanted rivalry)

the initial flashback in his dream has sabretooth in casual clothing-

while the flashback he has later on, while awake, repeats the exact same memory but with sabretooth now wearing his costume instead

except....its not really a flashback in that case. its more just him remembering on his own(if that makes any sense lol)(i mean like hes more inclined to see the costumed villain version than seeing him as an actual person)

(before anyone says ‘the animators couldve messed up!’ it wouldve had to have been storyboarded that way beforehand. and considering its shot for shot identical, its unlikely that it was a case of multiple storyboarders having a miscommunication over the script..)

I think he’s better with kids/ adopted more teens. He clicks with Laura really quick despite her not even technically being his daughter.

But also. I think he’s more gay on the bi-spectrum so he didn’t have kids or accidentally get anyone pregnant, so he’s never been a parent.

Evidence of more gayness? Logan brings Scott and Charles up like three times more than an anyone else. GAY. In the other movies Logan was so much more concerned about Jean and what she thought of him (and her life over Scott’s who didn’t even get a funeral, what??? In the movies)

He’s also more feral and his mutantarion makes him have more animal traits. Mostly headcanon for fun but also because he ran on all fours to tackle Wade. Definitely into puppy play. I don’t make the rules. He also has like more prominent little tuffs? Idk he’s scruffier looking.

He aged because of the stress and trauma of losing the X-Men- not because he has a weaker healing factor. He has a pretty high healing factor compared to say, Logan’s, (also no mutated corn in his universe)

Mutant hate was more prominent in Logan’s universe- more civil unrest I mean. Higher tensions between the X-men and government that caused the massacre of the X-men and the students. Not to say any universe is better or worse but I think the X-men are still heroes in Wade universe and I bet in Logan’s they started look more the X-men 97- where they had to prove to the public that they are good and were rapidly losing control of the situation.

I also think the X-men look more like X-men 97 in Logan’s universe. They all wear the costumes. Storm has a Mohawk.

Victor, either this brother or not, hurt Logan so badly that he wouldn’t hesitate to behead another variant of him.

Logan is more avoidant but also sweeter at the same time? He’s afraid of getting close because he cares too damn much. Once he’s safe he’s a total sweet heart with the same short fuse he has.

Alcoholic that fast tracked rehab in their adventure in the void probably the longer they been sober in years and the alcohol bottle probably did little besides upset his stomach for longer than normal.

I think Logan would have a really sensitive sense of smell and hearing. Maybe not like natural smells (like musk, sweat, dirt, etc. because we all know he is a smelly wolf) but I think like overwhelming perfumes, fragrance, chemicals would be really overstimulating for him. A hospital is like probably the worst place he could possibly be. The over head florescent lights, the noise level, the smells, the blood. Also I think blood would be triggering to him too, the smell of it and maybe even the sight but that might be more PTSD esc than sensory overload. But to the same point and think when he’s overwhelmed by sensory input he has meltdowns that are much more violent to himself and sometimes other people.

I recently read a wonderful fic that dove deep into Logan’s anger issues and what I REALLY liked about it was that his anger outburst always stemmed from feeling overwhelmed. Too much input, too much going wrong and not the way he wanted it to go, and he’s flipping a table or his claws are out. And I think most people see it as just rage issues which it’s not /not/ but I think it stems from a place of being in an environment that is hostile to him.

And on top of that I think Logan also has a hard time fitting in and being socially aware. Maybe ooc but I dumped all my people skills onto this caveman in my fics. He doesn’t like the media and being the center of attention and he sometimes says things that people don’t like or don’t understand. He’s too blunt or grumpy about it from a social standpoint but really he’s kinda just being himself and saying what he wants to say. He doesn’t mask very well and he definitely has a harder time hiding his more animalistic traits (growling, sniffing, idc prowling, territorial stuff.)

Longer the life span the MORE trauma the character can get that doesn’t make him stronger but actually worser off. It’s even harder to keep living and learn how to be a better human being after the war is over.

Logan’s even less emotional mature when he gets his 200 years worth of memories back. He doesn’t communicate because he’s got it ingrained into his head that being a mutant AND being queer is only going to get you hunted or worse. He lived through don’t ask don’t tell. He lived through all the toxic masculinity phases and had to play along with them to survive. He doesn’t talk about his feeling he beats shit up. Being emotionally vulnerable was never rewarded so why would he be now, how could he be when he’s never experienced that. How can he let people in and let himself be loved when everyone just dies all the time? PTSD isn’t just an acronym to slap on a character or that soldier meme and Logan’s probably never going to get rid of it even if he lives long enough to see peace. And I love that he still has his bad habits. He’s a runner he’s a lone wolf to a fault. He’s a drinker. He’s everything an immortal does not want to be. He has no wisdom just trauma.

And also I love that being immortal means he can always start over and get another chance.

No one is coming to save you and I bet that is true and good advice to give when you’ve got one life and you don’t have time to fuck up as badly as the Wolverine. But I think sometimes someone does end up saving him, every other life time or so because I don’t think anyone could carry that weight all by themselves. He gets better for a little while, he loves people and lets them love him for a little while. And I think that’s kinda the point anyway. Ups and down. Everything is temporary.
