& HOST.
âItâs not my fault,â Ava repeated, even though she knew that it was a useless effort.
âThey took things from you, too, didnât they?!â
Ava took a step forward, courageous if only for a moment, until Wrathia had to remind her of that hellish scene.
âThat power⌠it killed people.â
I killed themâ they deserved it, though, right?
âIâve been searching for the book!â She really had been, desperately so. âIâve looked all over this cityâŚâ
âUnfortunately, thanks to you Iâm more than familiar with being powerless. For fifteen years. That much you should know.â Which isnât a complete lie, were it not for the powerâs absence she wouldnât be so dependent on Ava.
Wrathia almost frowned when Avaâs newfound attitude died so quickly.Â
âOh, they had it coming. Donât worry about their unfortunate souls, dying is a better fate than being a tyrantâs prisoner.â She laughs, arms crossed over the chest.Â
And she grips the girlâs shirt, both hand bawling into fists and ruthlessly whisking her up by it.
âRegretting things now, are we? That is just like you... taking things for granted, like my powers. Ava, I donât think you understand this, but Iâm not inside your head anymore. And Iâm very, very real.â her smile is menacing. âWithout the book, you are useless to me, so itâs better you find it, and fast.â
Without a warning, she releases the girl.
