Can we please talk about the Les Misérables 2026 trailer?
Like, I don't think it'll be good. I think I'll have to put it in the D-tier. It looks so bad.
Ok, like with reviews, positives first:
they're showing Javert's childhood.
Onto the bad things!
Like, it's so colorless and desaturated. I know it's not exactly a happy, joyful story but the world is so full of color even in the darkest moments, so why can't we have a little life in our movies?
Then there's the fact that it's an adaptation inspired by The Fugitive... which I heard is already based on Les Mis... Granted, I haven't watched that movie but I have a really bad feeling about Action Thriller LM.
Also Fred Cavayé said in an interview that he only decided to make the movie because the 2024 Count of Monte Cristo movie was as well recieved as it was. Now, I really really like that movie. I really cannot overstate how much I like this movie. And yet. I have a bad feeling about this statement. I can't put into words why I feel this way, it's just a vibe. (Also also the guy who played Albert plays Marius)
Now, this will be the first full story adaptation of LM since the 2012 Tom Hooper movie (yes, we've had the JVJ 2025 movie but it only covers like 15 chapters), so my expectations are through the roof. And yet.
Then there are these screenshots!
Behold! Toddler aged girls!
What the hell is this getup? Cosette, have some dignity!
Looks like they accidentally edited in a scene from Twilight.
The Defenestration of Montreuil sur Mer
I made a bingo with my bad expectations. If I'm wrong, if there are less than 5 things crossed off my bingo card, if this movie turns out to actually be really good, I'll delete this post and write an apology to Freddy-boy himself, but until then, we'll just have to wait and see and speculate.

Sigh, I fear I might need to retract my earlier statement of being excited for this new Les Mis movie…apparently it’s gonna suck.
