" I bet. " he responds, still smiling as he nods in agreement, " Go for it, kid. Anything to keep it out of my eyes.

Kaine smiles fondly at the boy as the younger scrambles to sit on the back of the couch, legs resting on either side of Kaine's broad shoulders. reaching back to pull the loose hair tie out of his hair, the older just pats the kid's shin lightly to let him know it was cool to start.

+ There was a PART of Janine that absolutely wanted to laugh . Not out of anything even remotely resembling amusement, but rather because of just how utterly ANGRY the question made her . The entire world had thrown themselves against herself and Ben . The single second they'd had SOMETHING they had been able to call their own, it had been ripped away from them . And for Ben, it had been worse than that . Even now , she couldn't vanquish the idea from her mind that what had been taken from the LOVE of her life might not be FIXABLE .

" No, he's not . " Every word was nearly spat , their sound brimming with barely restrained ANGER . Had Peter sent him here ? Was this somehow the next step in trying to finally take away even the last thing she and Ben still had ? Was Parker not even brave enough to do that himself ?

Her fingers curled at her side is pure RAGE .

Kaine knows he's not wanted here. he can feel it, the ANGER radiating off her, and he knew it was completely valid. he'd made his bed and now it was time to lie in it; knows that there was nothing he could say or do to earn even a shred of forgiveness. he'd done too much to her, to Ben, for either of them to trust him again.

" I do care. " he hisses, before taking a breath and trying again, " Okay. I know you're angry, and I don't blame you. I'd be pissed too, seeing my ugly mug again, but I just... I wanna help. "

it was a long shot, probably wasn't going to be received well, but he had to try. he had to. he'd done so much to hurt Ben and Janine, it was high time he buckled down and tried to help instead.

he groans, sighing after a moment, " Yes, I do. " he admits, even if it hurt and felt like acid on his tongue. he'd already been through this with Louise, with Shannon, and it would happen again with Annabelle. if he kept himself out of it, though, he could save her and himself a lot of heartbreak.

" It's not lying if there's proof, Aracely. " he states, shaking his head. really, if she could read his thoughts, she already knew about the others. about how much of a monster he was, that he brought doom and death to everyone around him.
