Here’s the thing. Refusing to accept a compliment can be mildly insulting to the person you’re refusing the compliment from.
It’s like you don’t believe them or don’t respect their opinion basically.
I know, I also have self esteem so low that accepting a compliment feels physically painful but basically calling the person who’s complimenting you a liar doesn’t help anybody including yourself.

Warner Bros. Discovery has officially launched a dedicated YouTube channel for the classic 1990s science fiction series Babylon 5, marking a
In a welcoming video posted to the platform, series creator J. Michael Straczynski appeared to introduce the official home, emphasizing that it would feature original commentaries, interviews, chats, and additional material in the coming months. This development builds on earlier efforts by Warner Bros. Discovery to make full episodes available for free on YouTube, following the series’ departure from other ad-supported platforms earlier in 2026.

ICE is ambushing travelers at San Francisco International Airport.
A recent ICE arrest at SFO is just the tip of the iceberg for ramped-up enforcement.
In this week’s air travel news, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has ramped up its efforts to arrest people at the nation’s airports, and it’s not limiting the hunt to undocumented people with criminal records; JetBlue Airways is the latest airline to split airfares into three categories for each seating choice; another low-cost carrier announces it will add premium seating and free beverages; American Airlines (temporarily) and Southwest Airlines drop some California service; Air Canada suspends a Sacramento route; United Airlines cuts back its SFO-Barcelona schedule; Delta Air Lines and Starbucks revise the terms of their loyalty programs’ partnership; and San Jose Mineta International Airport introduces a premium parking option.

While I'm normally against Trump putting his face on things, I think Trump Passports are actually a great idea, because people have to go out of their way to get them by applying in person on one specific date. This means that anyone who presents one at an international customs point will be identifiable as a fervent Trump supporter until 2036, which can only be useful for every other country in the world.
Here are some questions I hope that different regions might ask:
In Europe: I see you supported Trump as late as 2026, after he made comments about annexing Greenland and disparaging Ukraine. Have you been sent here to help destabilize the European Union and support foreign incursion into European holdings? Prove it. Wait here for ten hours while we search all of your bags.
Central and South America: Were you personally involved in bombing fishing boats, kidnapping Venezuela's president, and running concentration camps for migrants on American soil? Are you here to identify targets, or get revenge on specific individuals who spoke up against this treatment and were deported? Prove that you aren't. Wait here for ten hours while we search all of your bags.
Canada: Are you psychologically incapable of experiencing fear or shame? Do you lack contextual awareness?
This contradicts testimony from a TSA official who said the data wasn’t being collected for immigration enforcement.
The Trump administration has for more than a year used personal information airline passengers provide to the Transportation Security Administration for immigration enforcement, according to documents obtained by a government watchdog group.
The documents, collected by the government accountability organization American Oversight, show for the first time a formal data-sharing agreement since May 2025 between TSA and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The agreement contradicts congressional testimony from a TSA official who told lawmakers that passenger data was not being collected for the purpose of immigration enforcement.
There aren't words for how insidiously disgusting and blatant this is. (Link)

it’s a pretty well-known phenomenon that you only get a couple seconds with your horror creature fully visible onscreen before it gets “chuckied,” a term coined by yours truly referring to the shift between the first and second acts of child’s play (1988) as the audience gets used to seeing the little chucky puppet moving around and consequently can no longer buy into the film’s serious slasher tone in the absence of the horror of the unknown. the tuunbaq in the terror and the dogomorph in alien 3 (1992) are also famous victims of chuckying—just like how lovecraftian horror usually falls flat on the screen, too much visibility and your scary, amorphous creature will become a very morphous puppet or cgi’d in picture. the easiest way to combat this is of course to keep the creature obscured for as much of the piece as possible; for instance, despite their oppressive presence throughout their respective works, the beast in over the garden wall is shown for less than six frames and the eponymous kaiju of cloverfield (2008) is never properly shown, allowing each to retain their mystery and danger. another route is to simply lean into the campiness of it, like the later child’s play franchise and alien resurrection (1997). in the case of the blob (1958) a mere satirical title sequence song is enough to completely transform a fairly standard creature feature into an enduring masterpiece of hokey fun. the third option to combat chuckying is for the horror creature to constantly transform—the thing (1982), the fly (1986), and aliens (1986) show their creatures in loving detail, but there is always something the audience hasn’t seen yet, something they don’t know to brace themselves for. it’s a fine line to walk, of course, but that’s the nature of the game when you want to turn the concept of the unknown into something knowable enough to bite you
Drug arrives years after pandemic’s peak, but could still offer protection to vulnerable populations.
An antiviral pill has, for the first time, been shown to prevent COVID-19 in people exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus at home, according to trial results published today in the New England Journal of Medicine1. The drug could be a lifeline for those who still face real danger from the virus, such as care-home residents or transplant recipients on immune-suppressing medication.
There are good things happening in the world.
You can read about it here without a paywall.
Households exposed to COVID-19 now have an oral drug specifically cleared to prevent infection after contact with a sick person. The FDA listed Xocova, the brand name for ensitrelvir, as a 2026 novel drug approval for post-exposure prophylaxis of COVID-19 following contact with an infected individual. The decision fills a gap that has persisted since the pandemic’s early years: until now, no oral antiviral carried an FDA-approved indication for prevention rather than treatment.
