I always try to begin a New Year in the same way, with Gratitude. This last year was particularly dark at times but the dark reminds us how much we need and should appreciate the light. I am very fortunate to have a lot of light in my life. . Gratitude I think comes from context and perspective. A friend/overlord of mine over at @larosaspizzeria asked me if I would paint the store windows for the holidays. I told him I had no idea what I was doing but if he let me sign the work with his name no matter how bad it turned out I was game. Cute stuff really isn’t my bag but I did end up having a lot of fun. It took me way back to my NCE decorative flag days with @bartenational2019 @mishaknierim and @cswyellokat. Painting on glass with house paint and a roller was pretty wild and I learned a lot. I would have been totally lost if not for @scotcampbellart tutorials on YouTube. Taft Museum Summer Camp. This summer I was very fortunate to work with some of the talented young artists in our community. It was a week long workshop in conjunction with the Taft’s L’Affichomania poster show educating kids about the design and production of early French posters. I had a blast and it reminded how much I really enjoy and miss teaching. Big thanks go out to Katie, Emily and Erin @taftmuseum! No way I could have done that without you. One of my favorite parts of the week was our excursions where I get to learn as much as the kids. We got to tour @tctcincinnati to see how they design their posters for shows. Thank you Krista you have a wonderful creative space! Then we were off to @dyi printing where the kids got to pull their own screen prints which we all collaborated on and they displayed at their art show. I was very lucky last month to have a wonderful meal and catch the Clem Snide Living Room Show with @evalillx in Columbus. This was my first experience with a house show and the whole thing was pretty surreal. I have followed @clemsnidemusic since You Were a Diamond and Your Favorite Music so it was amazing to see Eef do his things and share some hilarious stories with just a handful of other very nice people.
