How odd I can have all this inside me and to you itâs just words.
I finished THE BOOK! I hadnât read any reviews or guide books, online debates about âwhat the author meantâ before I started, and I believe this is how it should be read, so youâll find no spoilers here. Also, THE BOOK wants to be read slowly (youâll thank me laterđ). DFW wanted the story to be sad and it truly is but also fun and entertaining and you donât want to stop reading it. I absolutely understand people who finish THE BOOK and then immediately start it over again. The book about addiction (among other things) turns out to be very addictive đ I didnât start it over again (though I will, in the future) but I canât stop thinking about it, reliving it, reflecting on the beginning and the ending; I miss the characters, too đ Strange and unique experienceâŠI wish it hadnât ended. #bookstagram #instabooks #instabookstagram #whattoread #whattoreadnext #whatimreading #postmodernliterature #postmodernism #infinitejest #davidfosterwallace #mustread #mustreadbooks #americanliterature #americanauthors (at Tallinn, Estonia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQy-No3LtR1/?utm_medium=tumblr
"We donât know who discovered water but we are pretty sure it wasnât a fish!â We are all in this position, being surrounded by some environment or element that blinds us totally".
- Marshall McLuhan
"There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says "Morning, boys. How's the water?" And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, 'What the hell is water?'....
...It is about the real value of a real education, which has almost nothing to do with knowledge, and everything to do with simple awareness; awareness of what is so real and essential, so hidden in plain sight all around us, all the time, that we have to keep reminding ourselves over and over:
"This is water."
"This is water".
- David Foster Wallace

David Foster Wallace, Il Re Pallido
It may be in the old days what was known as a spiritual crisis: feeling as though every axiom in your life turned out to be false... and there was actually nothing. And that you were nothing. And that it's all a delusion and you're so much better than everybody 'cause you can see how this is just a delusion, and you're so much worse because you can't fucking function. - The End of the Tour (2015)
