Remus is furious (actually, he's scared): "You never listen to me! You only think about yourself!" Sirius (hurt): "I'VE BEEN WORKING HARD FOR YOU, LUPIN." Remus: "I didn't ask for this! I don't want to be your rescue project!"

Sirius falls silent. He looks at Remus for a second, his eyes very cold. He turns around and walks away. They don't speak for three days.

On the third night, Remus finds a note under his pillow: "You're not a project. You're the reason I want to be good. I'm sorry. Please, eat. I won't steal anything else. Okay, I will, but I won't get caught."

Remus goes down to the living room. Sirius is sitting in a chair, hunched over, and crumpling the edge of his robes. Remus sits down next to him, silently takes his hand and presses it to his cheek. Sirius sighs, as if he hasn't breathed in three days. And he whispers: "You have no idea how much I've missed your voice."

★ remus (along with james) always has hair ties ready for sirius to wear, since he's chaotic and forgetful

★ sirius has heart eyes whenever lily convinces remus to join the dance floor and does lowk white girl dancing with her (she is the only person that remus would agree to, and he has to be a certain kind of drunk). like remus is so awkward but sirius is down baddd

★ whenever they're at festivals remus leads the way like the 6'4" wall that he is and sirius trails behind him holding his hand. when they're where sirius wants remus stops and holds a hand at the small of his back

★ like they're not super much for pda because of remus (always half cuddling as "friends" still, that’s just them) but you can kind of often find them standing really close together with remus at sirius' back. if they're with the inner inner circle then remus can wrap his arms around sirius' waist (sirius would do the same but then he can’t talk to anyone because his face is in between remus' shoulder blades)

★ on bad pain days sirius brings remus like a trillion cups of teas, and it's sirius so he has bought like japanese exclusive blends (my man is a trust fund baby and alphard left a LOT for his favorite queer) (remus would complain but the blends are good and he's in pain, sue him)

★ on valentine's sirius goes all. out. and he makes remus take the day off from work (my remus is a history professor btw!) so that they can spend the whole day together. red heart balloons all over their apartment when remus wakes up, champagne for breakfast, some crazy day trip, love hotels... sirius telling him over and over and over how handsome he is and how much he loves him and moony moony moony (remus is blushing so badly his ears are pink)

★ "moony, can’t we?--" "no pads, you know i don’t--" "please 🥺 pretty please 🥺" "... ugh, fine, but ONLY this time, okay." "✌🏻😝"

★ remus listening in silence as sirius plays the piano for him, knowing how much this means. it is a direct mirror to his soul; the deepest, darkest, most broken part of him. it is countless of hours of walburga hurting his fingers and bleeding and crying and wanting to stop, and yet it is sirius' love of music and the desire to live, to fight, to find a new home. sirius only ever plays for remus, on specific days.

★ in the shower remus stares at sirius' billion shampoos and watever the fuck it is and does an ugh face, trying to find his 3 in 1 bottle

★ remus has three bookshelves and sirius has a corner of the living room dedicated to vinyls (they also have vinyls on the wall, as like, paintings or whatever, remus didn’t listen that closely he just said yes bc sirius was pouting)

★ "moonshine, moonbeam, love of my life, where is the--?" "by the sink."

★ remus doesn’t really call sirius any pet names that often. like he continues with pads, a padfoot if he's stern, sirius if he's really stern. but once every blue moon (once every second week, maybe third) when they're alone and remus is feeling soft he says cariad, maybe sweetheart, and sirius goes absolutely still and then breaks out into the widest grin (it took sirius A YEAR to figure out what he was saying and what cariad meant) (sirius doesn’t dare tease him for saying these pet names because he's afraid remus would get nervous or embarrassed and stop) (it's actually good that he doesn’t do it more often bc sirius' mind would overload) (sirius positively melts) (twice remus murmured it into his ear in public when sirius was mad and all the anger just evaporated in an instant, sirius' mind blanked and was just going moony moony moony moony moony again)

But then Lily started going out with James, and one evening Remus texted her:

'Fancy escaping for a bit? Maison Bertaux, 28 Greek St?'

And Lily, instead of inviting James along, said:

"Oh, I promised Remus I’d meet him."

James accidentally caught a glimpse of the text and went properly mental about it. Acted like a complete twat, summoned his best mate (Sirius, ofc) and his motorbike, and turned up a few minutes later only to see Remus hugging the life out of Lily, pressing a kiss to her temple (the very thing James had been dreaming about doing himself).

James stormed straight back out again, Sirius on his heels.

And while Lily and James were having a blazing row out on the pavement, Sirius was absolutely gone within seconds. Completely smitten. Meanwhile Remus stood there blushing furiously, worrying his lower lip between his teeth while trying to explain what was actually going on.
