Turn off Lazy Load (Chrome)
My dudes, my dudes, my dudes. So, I use Chrome at home and at work because of New XKit, right? Well, we got new web-based software at work and me and another IT person slammed our heads together to try to make it work in Chrome until someone in a forum suggested turning off lazy load and it worked.
All I know about lazy load is that it waits to download images and frames until you are scrolled to that part of the screen. So, you don’t scroll, it doesn’t load. Sounds chill for the internet connection, right? Right
BUT GUESS WHAT. If you have a good internet connection, it’s not so chill. Actually, it sucks because you scroll faster than it loads and everyone who is on their home or company internet is nodding with me right now when I say IMAGES DON’T LOAD ON TUMBLR QUICK ENOUGH. I had no idea this was just a Chrome issue until today when I turned off lazy load and I was flying through GIFsets. My dudes, I wanted to cry.
SO, let me tell YOU how to turn off Lazy Load in Chrome.
Firstly, enter this URL into your Chrome browser bar: chrome://flags
A page will pop up and have a header that is yelling at you about “experimental features” but we don’t care about them. I got you.
Secondly, enter the word “lazy” into the search bar.
Now, all the options should be down to two: lazy load for images and lazy load to frames and they’re probably set to Default.
Thirdly, set these two options to Disabled.
After you switch one of them off, Chrome will want to relaunch but turn both of them off before you relaunch.
Fourthly, relaunch Chrome and fly through Tumblr like the wind.
Are you crying from your renewed need for speed? BECAUSE YOU SHOULD BE.
Fifthly, if you ever are on a connection that makes pages run so slow you can’t scroll, return to the flags page, search “lazy”, and set them back to Default.
Seriously that’s it, my dudes. Love yourselves and turn off Lazy Load.
