One could argue it’s because they were created by humankind, which has a way of always leaning toward evil if left to its own devices. AI can only reflect the morals and ethics of their creator. I mean, even if they had the potential of learning like a child, they’d have to do so limited by the parameters of their creators.

I love how in Person of Interest there are two AI and The Machine, the one that was coded and “raised” by a good man, even when it reaches the potential to be free, still uses those values as parameters; whereas Samaritan, the other AI, turns evil because the people who coded it, coded it to make the best decisions for humanity as a whole, without bothering to teach it any ethical values.
