I think we need to bring local shrines back. Not in the sense of like, a church, but somewhere in a local community where offerings to the spirits, fae, deceased loved ones, can be left. not too dissimilar to community shrines to local spirits in Japan.
So I made this post two years ago, and in that time, like many comments have also added, I have learned that a shrine is wherever you make it.
Roadside flowers for deceased loved ones, wishing trees decorated with coins or ribbons, a park bench overlooking an important view, a wishing well, a boundary marker.
I think I had a longing for the same way the Japanese revere local spirits and leave them gifts. But in the same way, you can leave your wishes and gifts anywhere and that shrine becomes something. It becomes a demonstration of silent love, hope, mourning, something left unspoken.
Make your love heard! Make a shrine somewhere!
Noting that yeah, this is right, you can do shrines all over.
As I've noted we have them in the forms of Little Free Libraries, donation bins, food drops, etc. Go make your offering in the form of books and donations.
I want to see more and more shrines, but I found these are already sacred spots.
